I enjoyed this book very much, but kept hoping what the end wasn't going to be what I feared. All the characters were well defined. This is one I might listen to a second time.
If you like descriptive violence then you'll probably enjoy this book. I would caution anyone wanting to listen to this one. It has very graphic scenes of physical and mental abuse. Not for me.
This book just couldn't grab me at all. Not even given it's synopsis. I was expecting something more from the get go and it just wasn't there for me.
I loved this book!! I found myself talking to the characters out loud. LOL. I thought I just knew who it was. Not. Oh well, it's a mystery. But, not if you'll buy and listen to this one.
I enjoyed this book so much. Looked to see others she had here on Audible only to discover that this is it. :-(
Hope we'll be getting more of her writings.
The ending was such a surprise! All I'm gonna say about a well written mystery.
I was so disappointed in this book. I love Laurann Dohner's writing and this one just missed the mark by a long shot. It was difficult for me to listen to the end on this one because it was just so boring.
Hoping any others coming up in her New Species series is better than this. I'm so happy that I bought this one when it was on sale for $3.67.
At first, I wasn't too certain that I'd enjoy this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's so well written with all the characters being well developed and interesting.
This story line will take you on the painful emotions of the loss of an adult child. In fact, for the mothers only child and the turmoil of how drugs can ruin a persons life. Jane (the mother) has to learn to put away 'fear' and to find her way back in to life. Her desire to be around anyone who may have known her daughter leads Jane in to a life that she Never imagined she'd enter in to. She struggles with her own emotions concerning a new relationship she didn't see coming.
There are many emotions in this book and more than one loss as Jane struggles through life in an attempt to come out whole on the other side.
The narration is good and each character has his/her own distinct sound.
This is the first book I've listened to by Ryan Winfield. I only wish Audible had more of his books to offer us. This is a well written book with substance and quality. It's well worth however one chooses to pay for it.
I'm looking forward to the next one in this new series. The two main characters are Lily and
Luke. Both have losses in their lives but the effects on each is very different. Sandi Lynn developed the secondary characters quite well and we can see who the following books in this series could possibly be.
It's a story of new beginnings for all and how they left the past, searched for the future and how they endure the present.
I enjoyed the narrators very much.
It's worth the credit.
I normally enjoy listening to Kristen Ashley, but this listen was unbearable for me. It's one of those annoying listens when the female lead is unrealistic in her thought process. This one is about Jet who is solitary and self sacrificing to the ridiculous and annoying!! Way to much of the dialogue is Eddy (the male unit) trying to convince Jet that she doesn't have to work out her many problems by herself. While that alone would be an annoyance, all her co-workers and Eddy's life-long friends now come aboard trying to convince Jet of the same thing. Does she take anyone's advice??? Yep, you got it!! Not One!!
I couldn't finish this listen.
I asked for a refund on it.
The book has good narration and I did enjoy the humor. The story line tried to be good, but Jet kept attempting to accomplish what any sane woman would know You Just Can't.
The story line was all over the place with Jet having to work to pay for her Mom's stroke recovery and a Dad who has Sharks after him because one owes him $30,000 and another $15,000. So, we have two extremely needy parents and one child who sacrifices all for them. Really???
I'd keep my money. I got my credit back.
I am convinced that we have reviewed some books unfairly and it's Not our faults!! It's the authors agents and publishers who choose the narrators for their authors and with an audio book the narration is everything. Especially in this genre, if you happen to be a woman!
Melissa Huso, may well be in her twenties or thirties, I have no idea, but she sounds like she could be my grandmother's age. I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to hear coming my grandmother's mouth is sexual conversation. It just doesn't work! So, I beg, and I mean BEG those who choose on behalf of their authors~~~BE WISER!!
I liked the theme of this book because it's futuristic with people having the ability to travel all over the world and most importantly, Space. It's done in a described time when people can travel to moons that encircle other planets and they can even destroy those moons if they so choose to. The struggle is political in this book. There isn't a firm, workable Government established (oh, right, Much like it is Today) well, anyway, The commoners are attempting to stand for their rights and the main male character Bruce is a future Robin Hood and an activist for the people all in one. It's a government where 90% of it's inhabitants are the so called 'commoners' and the other 10% are called the Elite. The author took a bit of our nations struggles and used it as those problems plaguing the future. For example, slavery is being used to harvest gems from caves that will only allow a person who is small to reach them, and so one group of people whose children fit the bill are used! So on, and so on, history repeating itself. This is why I gave the story four stars. The narrator was a bad choice for this book and it's my opinion that a younger, strong and more voice changing reader would have made Jocelyn Han's book one that we the listeners would have appreciated more. It's my belief that if agents/publishers are going to offer audiobooks as a profitable medium for the authors that employ them, then they MUST play a closer role in listening who they choose, and base their choices on what the Author is trying to convey to their readers.
I did listen to this entire book. The draw for me again, was the story line and it's to Jocelyn Han all create is due.
You may be risking your credit or money if you listen to this book. I hope my review of it will in some way help you make your decision. ~~~Wray Mona~~
Alpha is a well written book with a story line that I enjoyed. It's not the usual billionaire conquers the wee submissive. It's a love story without BDSM!! Yeahhhhh.
Ms. Wilder wrote this book with a story line that is believable, yet not common. She wrote it in a way that keeps the listeners interest in it's outcome throughout the listen.
I can't touch on the essence of this book without giving too much away. I can say that I enjoyed it enough to write to Ms. Wilder's agent to discover is there is going to be a second book written, creating a series. (Not a Cliffhanger read) Hallelujah!!
Ms. Wilder is writing another called BETA!! I can't wait.
Ms. Summer Roberts does an outstanding job narrating the majority of this book. We don't hear from Tyler Donne until the very end. However, Ms. Roberts does and outstanding job in narrating for both Valentine and Kira.
