"Good fiction that makes you think"
This is definitely in the top 20% of the books I've listened to with Audible. The story is engaging and really makes you think about the consequences of some things going on in the world today. This certainly isn't a feel good book - but it's worth the time to push yourself to think through some challenging topics.
I liked that the background of the story really wasn't explained until the end - exactly the opposite of most stories but I thought it worked well. This format really kept you guessing as to what happened in the world to lead to this terrifying society.
Also - Claire Danes was fantastic as the narrarator. I'm not as picky as some about narration but she's one of the best that I've heard.
Definitley worth a credit
"One of my favorite books - a complete surprise"
This was a huge surprise for me - I've listened to hundreds of audio books and picked this up on a whim because it was on sale. It ended up being one of my favorite books to date. The concept was interesting and the characters were engaging. The story is a crazy mix of Hunger Games, Romeo and Juliet, and 1984 - three books that one would never expect to be mentioned in the same review but it somehow came together.
Overall the story has a lot of layers and you can spend hours thinking about how this books reflects on what's going on in today's world.
The narration was excellent. Sarah Drew could not have been a better pick.
