What possessed me to get this book? Manchester goes on and on about every detail of each year. The music, the people, who invented what, and blah, blah, blah of every moment in Churchills world. Too much info. And 5 parts later we are only in 1932. I lasted til the 4th part but it isn't worth it.
If it weren't such a morality tale, with an agenda.
Stop pushing an agenda. The reviews had no mention of this being such a religion based book.
There was nothing in the reviews that said anything about it being a Christian morality tale. A good read but very annoying. I don't like being preached at without a disclaimer.
Yes! And I have. Great story on so many levels. You get an understanding of painting, the gallery/art world politics, a who-done-it and a love story all rolled into this "can't put down" book.
No one else could have read it! Great book - great delivery. I wanted more.
Shelter Island by Robyn Carr has the same plot. I read it last year and this was so predictable that I only kept reading it to find out if it ends the same way. It did.
Loved every second of it. Wishing for heavy traffic so I could spend more time with it.
Not having read anything else in the series, this was so hard to get into. Very little in setup. Repeated the first part several times. Didn't get better.
