Downton Abbey portrays a world of elegance and decadence, a world of duty and obedience, and a world of romance and rivalry. This companion book, full of rich historical detail, takes fans deeper into that period than ever before. Experience the inner workings of the downstairs life and be dazzled by the glamour of upstairs life with profiles of all the major characters, interviews with the actors, and behind the scenes insights.

Teddy says: "Fun look at the backstory to Downton Abbey"

What made the experience of listening to The World of Downton Abbey the most enjoyable?

Narration by Elizabeth McGovern who plays Cora.

What did you like best about this story?

Learning more about the life and times of the early 20th century.

What about Elizabeth McGovern’s performance did you like?

Simply that one has gotten to know her voice through her on-screen performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really - just enjoyed getting my Downton Abbey addiction fix.

    Any additional comments?

A nice addition to the world of Downton Abbey while awaiting Season 3. The only thing I didn’t like was learning that the entire program is not filmed in the manor - takes away some of the show’s authenticity.

Once upon a time, a teenaged Kate Winslet (The Reader, Titanic, Revolutionary Road) received a gift that would leave a lasting impression: a copy of Emile Zola’s classic Thérèse Raquin. Six Academy Award nominations and one Best Actress award later, she steps behind the microphone to perform this haunting classic of passion and disaster.

FanB14 says: "Wonderful Winslet, Satisfactory Story"
"Couldn’t finish it - painfully drawn out."

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Perhaps lovers of Zola’s writings would enjoy this book.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Unbroken

    Any additional comments?

Too verbose and slow for my liking.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

Anastasia Burke says: "Hillenbrand could make even laundry fascinating!"

What made the experience of listening to Unbroken the most enjoyable?

The vanquish over pure evil - experiencing gut-wrenching horrors to tears of joy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When McArthur and Harris were seen together, I shed tears. The death of the duck is a scene I would like to forget, but never will.

    Any additional comments?

Whenever I feel sorry for myself, I will think of his flea-bitten, maggot-infested body and his toils in filth - no better cure.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

If you could sum up Bossypants in three words, what would they be?

    Brilliantly humorous stories

What did you like best about this story?

Even though I’d read Tina Fey’s words, hearing them in her own voice made them ten times funnier.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Many laughs - no tears.

Would you listen to The Alchemist again? Why?

A fable I will always remember - one I need to listen to again and will pass on to others. The thought of seeking my personal legend is a life-changer. Jeremy Irons is the perfect voice to hear this inspiration in my mind over and over again.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    “Seek you personal legend
