I am a Father of 4 children that are always getting different books on here. I have the great job of reading the actual book or listening to the book before hand to make sure its appropriate. First of all, I did not have great expectations for this book, BUT, WOW!!! If you are a boy and you are in Jr High/High School...READ THIS BOOK!!! This is a love story where two people meet and it might be love at first sight but let me tell you, it is not easy. I could easily identify with the main characters anxiety, fear, just the constant thought of wondering if the person you have so much feelings for is thinking the same thing as you are. The authors do a wonderful job in creating an atmosphere that put me back in high school with all the tremendous character development. I HAD to get all three books and find out if this love story was going to work out. TRUST ME...this is like nothing you have read before. Don't give up, just read or listen on and you will love this book. A real love story with supernatural elements in it. I cant say enough about this book. GET IT and you can thank me later.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

If you have any childhood memories of the 1980’s than be ready to visit those memories again. Ready Player one takes place in the future where social media and virtual reality have melded together. Although it is a dystopian type book the majority of the book takes place in a Video Game…that’s right a Video game. Now, if you are asking yourself what a video game is?..this probably isn’t the book for you..stop reading..dont download A Wozniak/Jobs type billionaire named James Donovan Halliday who created this video game has died. Being enamored with the 80’s he left his fortune to anyone who can collect his three trophies by figuring out various clues he has left, referred to as Easter eggs. . Wade Owen Watts/Parzival(get it W.O.W) is a gunter…a game hunter. He has dedicated his life to solving this puzzle. What ensues is a pretty nice adventure(inside joke to those who have listened). Wil Wheaton does an ok job in narrating. His voices are not great but there are not so many characters in the book that it becomes a real issue. This is a great commuter listen. You don’t have to spend much time trying to understand the plot or what has happened. Like a traditional video game the book does a pretty good job of keeping score and letting us know where everybody stands. I did like the fact that they delve into the whole online persona morale issue. Meaning it is very easy to hide behind a persona you have created online. Either for Dating, Social Media, Online Games. It is very east to get lost in the person you have created rather than being the person you are. But in the end its not real. The author does a great job in taking this problem and drawing it out to its ultimate conclusion. The book moves pretty fast and I found it very enjoyable. There are a couple of cuss words but I suspect the target demographic is old enough to not be bothered by this. It definitely is worth a credit. My friend called me one day and said “I now know why Facebook has spent so much money on VR technology” then he recommended this book. Im glad he did so I will “pay it forward” and pass the recommendation on.

Newcago is free. They told David it was impossible, that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet Steelheart - invincible, immortal, unconquerable - is dead. And he died by David's hand.Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life simpler. Instead, it only made David realize he has questions. Big ones. And no one in Newcago can give him answers.Babylon Restored, the city formerly known as the borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though.

If you didn’t understand that metaphor than you will love this book. If you did understand it then you HAVE to love this book. I was a marine in Desert Storm and lost my eye sight. I am not saying this so anyone will feel sorry for me but to illustrate how impressive the writing is with Brandon Sanderson. How well he takes me to a place I can visualize and really just transport me to these worlds of wonder and amazement. Never has an author been so consistent with so many titles in being “AWESOME”. I first tried the Rithmatist and I really liked it. So I thought I would give the author a second chance. I listened to Mistborn, then another Mistborn, then another, then the Stormlight archives, then the sequel, then Elantris, then Steel Heart, Mitosis and now FIREFIGHT and after this book.. EVERYTHING else Brandon (we are not really on a first name basis), has written! If you have not listened to Sleelheart DO SO NOW! The sequel picks up with the Reckoners doing their best to deal with the aftermath of the events that took place in Steelheart. Brandon, does a fantastic job of realistically portraying what happens when things change, for good or bad change is hard. Our protagonist, David, has to question his motivation. What happens when you have one goal guiding your life and you achieve it? What makes a hero? Is there a cause for evil in people? Is the cause justifiable? And if so does that make them Evil? Be prepared to have these questions answered. Fear VS LOVE.. That’s where David is at now. I don’t want to give too much away so I am being as vague as possible. This book, I promise you, will keep you guessing right up until the very end. Right when I thought I had everything figured out, BAM!!, another awesome twist. I loved listening the this with my children and then being able to talk about what they would of done if they were David and trust me all of the answers were different. This is a great sequel and it will leave you wanting the third book right away. The narration is incredible. All voices have their own inflection, accent and pitch.(How he does this I don’t know). Please Listen to SteelHeart and then FireFight then thank me for the recommendation! And If I ever get to meet Brandon, I will give him a hug and shake his hand for in his work I have found great Joy.

This book is a really fun read. The narrator is outstanding and for his performance alone, you should listen to the book. He brings the character to life with a dry and sarcastic sense of humor with a sprinkling of megalomania. The store is really good. If you are a child or an adult you will appreciate the great detail that the author brings to life. This is about a boy who is a naturally gifted magician. This also tells a tale of a class war going on in a parallel alternate timeline where magic exists but only the wealthy and elite are allowed to learn and master it. The magicians use summoning to gain the this magical ability. The book goes into more detail but lets just say you will love the intricate hierarchy of supernatural beings. If you like Harry Potter, Twilight, Artemis Fowl you will really get a kick of this book. You will love the characters in the book and for a bonus you will laugh at some one liners. The book is really fun and once you do go for it you will immediate want to get the 3 books in the series. This is also a great stand alone book. There is no cliffhanger the book does leave some questions unanswered but nothing that will make you bang you head against the wall. BARTEMEUS ROCKS!!!!
