On a rainy November day, police detectives Pia Kirchhoff and Oliver von Bodenstein are summoned to a mysterious traffic accident: a woman has fallen from a pedestrian bridge onto a car driving underneath. According to a witness, the woman may have been pushed. The investigation leads Pia and Oliver to a small village, and the home of the victim, Rita Cramer. On a September evening eleven years earlier, two seventeen-year-old girls vanished from the village without a trace.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

a actual story line with an narrator that does not put you to sleep

Has Snow White Must Die turned you off from other books in this genre?

    yes

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Robert Fass?

not sure anyone could have made it a story with interest

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

nope - nothing redeemable about it including the fact i couldn't return it and wasted a credit.

    Any additional comments?

Audible's return policy is NOT true - it does NOT work when you try to return so be weary of this book as to it is just plains horrid.

If you could sum up Say Goodbye in three words, what would they be?

enough little twists to keep it VERY interesting

Have you listened to any of Ann Marie Lee and Lincoln Hoppe ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ann Marie Lee - she is always a easy narrator to listen to and makes even bad book enjoyable

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

This is one of Lisa Jackson's better books - she does an excellent job in keeping the story going with some nice twist - this could actually be a true story

Raised in the historic southern splendor of Natchez, Mississippi, Penn Cage learned all he knows of honor and duty from his father, Dr. Tom Cage. But now the beloved family doctor has been accused of murdering Viola Turner, the African-American nurse with whom he worked in the dark days of the 1960s. Penn is determined to save his father, but Tom, stubbornly invoking doctor-patient privilege, refuses to even speak in his own defense.

What made the experience of listening to Natchez Burning the most enjoyable?

All of the stories about what happened in the past.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

seeing if the bad guy actually paid for his sins

What about David Ledoux’s performance did you like?

He is just a great narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    when history finally was solved

    Any additional comments?

Not sure why anyone would give this a low rating - it is a great book. The first few chapters seem alittle draggy but it is only telling the mystery and then the story really kicks in and the mystery ends!

Would you try another book from Scott Turow and/or the narrators?

    not sure

What was most disappointing about Scott Turow’s story?

the jumping back and forth so much in time and the ending was the worse - I kept listening thinking it would get better but it only got worse - most books that start confusing or boring in the first few chapters will get going and interesting but this one only got worse and more confusing....

How could the performance have been better?

a story that didn't jump around so much.....

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Laws of Our Fathers?

    ALL

    Any additional comments?

what a waste of a credit and time....
