  • We Are Anonymous: Inside the Hacker World of LulzSec, Anonymous, and the Global Cyber Insurgency

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Parmy Olson
    • Narrated By Abby Craden

In late 2010, thousands of hacktivists joined a mass digital assault by Anonymous on the websites of VISA, MasterCard, and PayPal to protest their treatment of WikiLeaks. Splinter groups then infiltrated the networks of totalitarian governments in Libya and Tunisia, and an elite team of six people calling themselves LulzSec attacked the FBI, CIA, and Sony. They were flippant and taunting, grabbed headlines, and amassed more than a quarter of a million Twitter followers.

Adam K says: "Awesome book. Felt like a hacker fiction novel!"
"Other than mispronunciations is was great."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It's a great look inside the real world of Anonymous & lulzsec, it will really educate the uniformed.

Have you listened to any of Abby Craden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to anything else Abby Craden has done but I would have no problem listening to her read another book. My only issue with her is that she mispronounces some very simple words, the main one that stood out for me was Linux, she pronounces it (line-ex) when it is pronounced (Lin-ex). That and the other mispronunciations of some very simple every day computing words drove me a little nuts But other than that she was a joy to listen to.

  • The Scarlet Letter

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Nathaniel Hawthorne
    • Narrated By Flo Gibson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Sue Q says: "Unbearable quality recording"
    "Horrible all around"
What disappointed you about The Scarlet Letter?

First the narrator is no good, then the chapters on the book don't match up with the chapters on the recording so you if you set the app to stop at the end of a chapter it stops in the middle of the books chapter. Also the first hour and a half was the author talking about the custom house instead of telling the story, the custom house stuff added nothing to the story and was just a huge was of time.

Has The Scarlet Letter turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes, but mainly just the author.

What didn’t you like about Flo Gibson’s performance?

Her voices all sound the same, and she seems to just drone on and on.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Any additional comments?

Please at least get a new recording of the book with a better narrator and end the chapters with the actual book chapters.

  • PhiLOLZophy: Critical Thinking in Digestible Doses

    • UNABRIDGED (2 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Chrissy Stockton, Sarah Heuer
    • Narrated By Theresa McCarthy
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A popular question in philosophy is "How do I know I exist?" That seems really boring, though. How about, "How can I use logic to get over my ex?" If you really love wisdom, you love it in all situations - you don't need to be spoon fed unsolved problems in philosophy, because you're already analyzing the US Weekly you’re reading or your kinda significant other. Sarah Heuer and Chrissy Stockton are writers living in Minneapolis who are determined to do something more interesting with their philosophy degrees than talk about dead white guys.

John B. Hayes says: "The Worst Example of Critical Thinking I've Seen"
"Critical Thinking from a 14 year old valley girl."
    What disappointed you about PhiLOLZophy?

There was no real philosophy in this book, just common sense methods for getting through a bad day.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from PhiLOLZophy?

    The entire book.

    Any additional comments?

This reads like it was written by a 14 year old valley girl, it's nothing but common sense tips on how to get through a bad day. I'll sum up this book for you, "Is what ever is bothering you really worth getting worked up over? No? Ok take a deep breath and move on with your life." There I just summed up this 2 1/2 hour book for you, now please don't waste your time.

Also I can't stand it when writers use texting short hand in their writing and the writer frequently uses "IDK, LOL, IRL, OMG" throughout the book in stead of using real words.

  • The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Timothy Ferriss
    • Narrated By Ray Porter

The 4 Hour Work Week explains what a lifestyle entrepreneur is and why you should want to become one. It teaches you how to "kill" your job and design a life, the 80/20 rule and how it increases productivity, how to replace your dreams with goals, and more. Listeners can lead a rich life by working only four hours a week, freeing up the rest of their time to spend it living the lives they want.

Tim says: "Some good ideas but, not so sure. . ."
    "Release your inner hedonist!"
Would you try another book from Timothy Ferriss and/or Ray Porter?

Not even if you paid me to listen to them!

What was most disappointing about Timothy Ferriss’s story?

It's totally impractical, if you were to do even half of the things suggested in this book then you would either be fired from your job or your business would be shut down in under a year.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ray Porter?

Ray Porter wasn't the problem with this book it was the author.

What character would you cut from The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich?

  • Dexter Is Delicious

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By Jeff Lindsay
    • Narrated By Jeff Lindsay
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Dexter is experiencing some major life changes - don't we all? And they're mostly wrapped up in the eight-pound curiosity that is his newborn daughter. Family bliss is cut short, however, when Dexter is summoned to investigate the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl who has been running with a bizarre group of goths who fancy themselves to be vampires. As Dexter gets closer to the truth of what happened to the missing girl, he realizes they are not really vampires so much as cannibals.

Amazon Customer says: "Odd even for Dexter, but enjoyable!"
"Story was good but Jeff Lindsay was horrible!"
How did the narrator detract from the book?

Jeff Lindsay is a great writer and I really enjoy his Dexter series but the man can not narrate! He brings no life to the characters, and his almost constant monotone voice was putting me to sleep. PLEASE Mr. Lindsay, stop reading your own books and let Nick Landrum come back, I'd buy this book again just to hear his reading of it.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story it's self was good.

    Any additional comments?
