Very realistic until the end ... just shoot the SOB ...
Might try another book in the series
Much better than the last book. This is true to the Clancy tradition.
I think we're set for a Clancy fix for a long time to come
I would have rated it lower but I have an irrational reaction to pot use. Also the narrator was like fingernails on a chalk board to me. This isn’t the usual prepper fiction and in that way it’s quite good. It also doesn’t use the EMP to start the end of the world so that’s good.
The story has a lot more character development that your average end of the world fiction. There is a predictable love story between the old people. I think a lot of the book is from the female prospective and that’s a needed thing.
It doesn’t get to be too full of lists like a lot of prepper fiction does so that's good.
She gets way preachy about several topics.
High Fructose Corn Syrup – it’s just sugar, too much of it will make you fat. It doesn’t taste as good as the real stuff either.
GMO crops – here’s where she really comes off the rails. GMO is really no different than hybrid crops that have been around forever. The bans other countries put on it have more to do with protecting local farmers and commodity prices or other trade issues than anything else.
It goes on, and on and on and on and on and on. Oh and it does go on a bit.
There is one hysterical firearms error in the book. She speaks of shooting a 1” group at 500 yards. If you’re a gun person you get it if not it won’t matter to you.
It’s not a bad book and it’s different than other prepper stuff out there. I’ll probably get the next one.
It's a bit like a few short stories mixed together.
In classic rawles style he gives a LOT of lists and details.
Not a bad listen but not really great - know what you're getting
Much better than some of the spin off series.
This book focuses on a single campus character
In all worth the time to listen
there is a brutal rape scene by the hero of a underage whore
too much for me - otherwise pretty run of the mill super spec ops books
I guess I should have looked at the length. It's several hours shorter than the first two.
The story is quite good - each one has gotten better but this one - plop it just sort of ends
Maybe there is another to come
A bit of a scholarly work but well worth it.
This is a must listen if you have a carry permit or have firearms in the home for defense.
BZ Col Grossman
Very good book. Well worth a credit and the time to listen.
A bit gear focused, like it should be.
Society collapse and .gov going full new world order was a bit quicker than expected.
Shoot outs are believable.
If 95% of cars are not running should be plenty of gasoline available - hello garden hose and siphon ...
In all a very good book though
It was ok and worth the time to listen to but the mix of cold war and current didn't do much for me
Clancy is unusually astute in real world shifts I fear.
I like J W Rawles stuff - I know it's not exactly great literature but I enjoy it.
This book recycles some of his other stuff and doesn't really flow in with much new stuff. It's a bit all over the place. If you've read either of his other books this one is only so so.
There is a bit of good Christian witness in.
Not a bad book but not very good either.
