For millennia men have strutted their pride over the fragile surface of the Earth, arrogantly proclaiming themselves masters of creation. But now their feeble investigations have disturbed the planet's original rulers far beneath the globe's crust.

As always Brian Lumley draws the reader into a world of mystery, danger, secret societies and intrigue. With characters both lifted from and created a new fitting directly into Lovecraft's Cthonian world, Titus Crow and Henri Marigny are interesting characters the reader comes to empthaize and cheer for.

That however is the end of the praise. The tale itself isn't so much a story of their exploits but diary pages of what they sit and discuss. The action is limited to a few short scenes where peril to the characters seems absent.

A good read, fun, but far too short and lacking in plot and details.

Rothfuss has done an excellent job of fleshing out his world, and giving us the reader and window into it through the eyes of his main character Khvothe.

I am eager for the next one to come out!!

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

I was suggested this book, but at first, wasn't impressed. However, once I got past the initial setup the authors wit and snark became apparent and I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

All good things must come to an end, Constant Listener, and not even Stephen King can write a story that goes on forever. The tale of Roland Deschain's relentless quest for the Dark Tower has, the author fears, sorely tried the patience of those who have followed it from its earliest chapters. But attend to it a while longer, if it pleases you, for this volume is the last, and often the last things are best.

Lori says: "Amazing - a must have.."

    Story

Childe Roland to the Dark Tower came by way of Deus Ex Machina. King even admits this in his letter to Susannah as she stands in the bathroom on Odd's Lane.

King even admits it at the end, and he's right. The only thing that saves the seventh book in his magnum opus is when Roland walks through the final door.

For much of the series the reader is given a villain it never sees, and when he is finally presented as a last obstacle in Roland's quest, he's a paper tiger.

This last book rounds everything out, smooths the edges and ties up final threads, but it leaves the reader feeling just as Roland does in the final sentence.

Quentin Coldwater has been cast out of Fillory, the secret magical land of his childhood dreams. With nothing left to lose he returns to where his story began, the Brakebills Preparatory College of Magic. But he can't hide from his past, and it's not long before it comes looking for him. Along with Plum, a brilliant young undergraduate with a dark secret of her own, Quentin sets out on a crooked path through a magical demimonde of grey magic and desperate characters.

Grossman does a good job of tying up his story and the main character arcs. As always he tells a wildly imaginative tongue in cheek tale of Quentin Coldwater and his love for the magical land of Fillory.

The second Death Star has been destroyed, the emperor killed, and Darth Vader struck down. Devastating blows against the Empire and major victories for the Rebel Alliance. But the battle for freedom is far from over. As the Empire reels from its critical defeats at the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance - now a fledgling New Republic - presses its advantage by hunting down the enemy's scattered forces before they can regroup and retaliate. But above the remote planet Akiva, an ominous show of the enemy's strength is unfolding.

Solid Star Wars book that preps readers for the change in venue from the EU to Disney's new direction. Chuck Wendig does a powerful job of taking the tatters left of our hearts from Return of the Jedi and sewing them into a tapestry that connects his readers to the Force Awakens. I highly recommend reading or listening to this book!
