I have to agree with the previous review. The narrator is not good. The material does not seem very good either, but it is difficult to be sure given the handling of the narrator. Terrible voice actor.
This course I think is meant to be introductory to the topic of linguistics, particularly as practiced by Mr. McWhorter and those in his school of linguistics, but it was just a little facile. It seemed to skim the surface of topics that I wanted to dive into. Maybe that is unfair. I guess really it waded knee deep, But I wanted more.
The narrator perfectly matches the tone and character of the book. I can't imagine what else a listener would want from the experience.
A classic the stature of The Hobbit deserves excellence in production and quality of voice acting, and this audio book has it.
Rob Inglis' characterizations are varied, nuanced and compelling. This gave me exactly the experience I was looking for, which was of a new look on a loved and familiar old friend.
