Would you listen to Charley's Web again? Why?

Yes! And I already have... The humor is a delightful balance for the rest of the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charley, of course. And the dog... The dog everyone has to love.

    Which scene was your favorite?

At the opening, the way Charley answers a crank caller.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end. I really didn't want it to be over...

    Any additional comments?

A really good book. Some mentions of cruelty to animals that I skipped over, I wish those could have been left out...

She's my roommate. I know how she takes her tea, how she organizes her closet. I know when she goes to bed each night, what she eats for breakfast, the passcode on her phone. I know she calls her mother on Mondays, takes barre on Thursdays, and meets her friends for drinks on Fridays. But more important than any of that...I know what she did.

Charles Manson and Jim Jones two of a kind! I have read many books about Jim Jones and Jones town, and I see many similarities between Jim Jones and Charles Manson. They were both mass murderers, both sought to have absolute control over their followers, both preached unrealistic dogma, both claimed that the end of the world was imminent, that only their followers would be safe… I would recommend anyone who read this to read, "A Thousand Lives" it is available here at Audible!

If burying a child has a special poignancy, the tragedy at a Catholic elementary school in Chicago more than 50 years ago was an extraordinary moment of grief. One of the deadliest fires in American history, it took the lives of 92 children and three nuns at Our Lady of the Angels School, left many families physically and psychologically scarred for life, and destroyed a close-knit working-class neighborhood.

This book, is one of the saddest stories I've ever read/listened to.
I listen or seek out this kind of book in an effort to get the story behind the headlines, beyond the sound bite. The personal stories mixed with the factual information was very well done.
I remember hearing about this fire when I was growing up but I certainly didn't know the whole story, and it's probably a good thing that I did not. I recommend this book though I have to say be prepared...

Too much backstory! I am all for back stories, but to be three hours into the book and be introduced to yet another character and another extensive backstory is too much for me I'm going to return this book! The heart of the book may be wonderful but I'm too confused by all the characters and all the extensive back stories -three hours of back stories is 2 1/2 hours too much for me!
