"Too much €£#%¥?!"
I am not a person who is bothered by profanity. However this book had so much that even someone who isn't bothered by it was bothered by it. It's gratuitous and the story would've been just as well, better without every other word being the F word.
The mystery was good. And there were some thought-provoking storylines on relationships.
"LAME"
If you have children and a partner I guess this book could provide some insights... I found it to be lame and useless. Don't waste your $ € £ ¥ in any currency.
"What's up with male narrator?"
Could have, should have been much better. Two narrators, One excellent one mediocre, Sandra Burr, (clan of the cave bear) was wonderful! The male narrator gave such a forgettable performance that I have conveniently enough, forgotten his name. This story lacked the depth of characters that I'm used to seeing in Jodi Picoult's books I also didn't appreciate the gratuitous cruelty to animals.
"Never wanted it to end!"
The ultimate feel-good book! "Slammed" is like the first bite of a hot fudge sundae. If you are reading this, and you haven't yet heard "Slammed"I must say I envy you the experience. Boy girl story with lots of unexpected twists and turns, tears, and laughter. At times I felt myself in envying Lake, but mostly I just admired her. I fell in love with Will at first listen.
Highly highly recommended!
"Awful"
Choppy, hard to follow. Waste of a credit. Very strange book. The reader was very good!
"Thought Provoking"
Good reader. The story line was excellent.
I do wish the author had left out the animal abuse, the book would have been better with out it.
The mixture of fact and fiction was flawless.
I would NOT recommend this book to any pregnant woman---not joking!
"Text book material"
I had the feeling listening to this that I was being read a college textbook. Information was repeated over and over and over again~I kept waiting for the pop quiz and the final exam! There was some good information in this book, but a lot of it was really common sense things like don't stand around talking to your colleagues when there are customers in the store ---I mean HELLO!?! Who doesn't know that???
"Best Nora Roberts ever!"
I loved the story, I loved the respectful mention of animals in the story! It is one that I know I'll listen to again and again.
Very interesting subject!
Through my favorite character, Burt the Mastiff.
I I couldn't understand the way the narrator pronounced the word garden?!?
I really want to thank another reviewer, Bettiann, for talking about Bert the Mastiff in her review. When I first read the synopsis of this book I was afraid to download it because they mentioned a dog and sometimes authors don't treat dogs very well, so I tend to avoid books that include them... Thank you Bettiann! I want a Mastiff too!
"If you liked the Heartbreak Kid..."
My absolute favorite! It is wonderful dark comedy, almost gallows humor.
Darcy at the beginning--- don't we all know a Darcy? Her sense of entitlement, and delusions of grandeur are hysterical!
Yes, and I love her narration skills. This is the best one I've heard!
To laughter, when she is giving Markus a hard time on her birthday...
I have probably listened to this book a dozen times since I bought it.
"Grabs you and won't let go!"
Yes! And I already have... The humor is a delightful balance for the rest of the story.
Charley, of course. And the dog... The dog everyone has to love.
At the opening, the way Charley answers a crank caller.
The end. I really didn't want it to be over...
A really good book. Some mentions of cruelty to animals that I skipped over, I wish those could have been left out...
