"I glanced out the window as my train pulled into the station and saw the girl who killed my son." So begins Josh Rolnick's powerful debut collection of eight stories, which utilizes a richly focused narrative style accenting the unavoidable tragedies of life while revealing the grace and dignity with which people learn to deal with them. The stories - four set in New Jersey and four in New York - span the wide geographic tapestry of the area and demonstrate the interconnectedness of both the neighboring states and the residents who inhabit them.

What did you love best about Pulp and Paper?

I was not much of a short story fan, but this collection changed that. Each story introduced dynamic characters struggling with life's complications. Mystery, interpersonal struggles, death, maturation - its all there. Rolnick is a wonderful short-storyteller who is able to draw you into deeply developed characters and situations in only a fraction of the time of a traditional novel.

What about Robert Fass’s performance did you like?

Fass reads each story with a fresh voice, enabling the listener to move from one to another main character. He reads appropriately for a young boy and grown man.
