"Good YA"
This is an excellent kid/young adult book. Thought the reader did a very good job.
"Don't waste the credit"
Yes by the author. None by the narrator.
Don't know,. Couldn't finish the book.
I'm not a particularly picky listener, usually if the story is good I can "soldier on." Not so with this book.
It seemed that she wasn't familiar with the material prior to performing. Accents in wrong places, terrible supporting character voices, stilted narration.
Rip out my ear buds and bang my head against the wall.
Too bad, I think this is a pretty good YA story, no Mary Sue's. Will look for print version.
"Happy, Sad, Thankful.."
Happy to finally hear the third installment of this wonderful series.
Sad when it ended. (Which, by the way, ended exactly as it should).
Thankful that I stumbled on to such a great author!
"Only 10 hours?"
I'm about 1/2 way thru this book and it feels like 10 years...
I enjoyed Ms. Caines Morganville Vampire series, and was looking forward to more of her writing.
This book didn't deliver. For a woman in peril story, the pacing and narration is very slow.
Do we really care if the heroine looks like Prince threw up on her?
"Wonderful!"
Such a wonderful gem! All 3 books are worth your listening credits, and this, the first book, doesn't disappoint. If you are tired of listening to "my pretty pony/puppy/fairy" with your kids, then this is the book for all of you! D.M. Cornish has created an entirely believable world, populated with utterly believable characters.
"Please Sir...."
May I have some more? Marc Vietor Rocks this series!
This is not the book to start with, though each in the series can stand alone, they really are better read in order... Dark, funny, excellent world building!
Can't wait to see what's in store for John Taylor now that "Walker" is gone... or is he?
"Angels among us!"
I read the first book in this series, then when I saw it on Audible, didn't hesitate to purchase. Love the story, unfortunately didn't love Mr. Daniels' narration. Which is such a personal thing. Mr. Daniels interpretation was very spare considering the material. I also had trouble keeping track of various characters in the story as they all tended to sound the same. Not enough of a block to prevent future purchases of this series.. Nice to know even Fallen Angels have the same internal dialogue as the rest of us.
"Stuart Binder is Pitch Perfect!"
I love Simon R Green Books- Especially the Nightside Series.. & wasn't disappointed in the 1st book of this series. The Man with the Golden Torc.
Mr. Blinder does a great job of narrating the story...
Just be prepared to menatally skip past all the whining about "Everything for the Family"...I'm not sure what Mr. Green is doing..His Nightside books also have constant references to John Taylors' "Special Gift," and tho some have complained about that, it hasn't bothered me, until this book. Otherwise, it's a fast paced, rollicking, adventure!
"Wanted to give it more stars....."
I gave the story itself the stars. Love smart, funny, snarky female protangonists, and there are several books in this series, a plus for me!
Unfortunately, I could not get past the narrator. The story was good enough in the first book to get past Ms. Gavin, and the character was a radio personality... Did not finish this book, and believe me that is rare! Marguerite Gavin sounds like the actress Wendy Malick, and that is the picture I got in my head, not some young (at the time of her attack), slacker girl. Ms. Gavin's narration is a bit too sophisticated for what I picture Kitty to be. Even alone in the cabin in the woods she uses the "Midnight Hour Voice," for internal dialogue. Of course we all have our own mental images... I'll give this series another try.. in print.
"couldn't finish"
The reader was so bad that I couldn't finish this book...
"Good premise, terrible reader"
Like the premise and the series so far... however, the reader is very distracting! If I continue this series, think I'll just get the book.
