Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever. Joyland is a brand-new novel and has never previously been published.

    Story

There is nothing about this story and performance that is not fantastic. The style, the story, the mystery were all great.
    A bittersweet story but real.
I wish he would write all stories like this...I grow tired of haunted houses and hotels that are evil.
I'm glad I took a chance on the King again.
Truthfully, it seems like a whole, new writer. IMO it may be his finest work. Nothing was over the top, everything was plausible.
The narrator has a smooth not in a hurry style. Perfect for Devin and that small corner of the world.
    Bravo!

Forced out of the Los Angeles Times amid the latest budget cuts, newspaperman Jack McEvoy decides to go out with a bang, using his final days at the paper to write the definitive murder story of his career. He focuses on Alonzo Winslow, a 16-year-old drug dealer in jail after confessing to a brutal murder. But as he delves into the story, Jack realizes that Winslow's so-called confession is bogus. The kid might actually be innocent.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

It took forever to get through this one. I have yet to see the movie but I will when it hits Bluray....it's a great concept and made me more interested in Lincoln.
    Maybe it was the narrator.

Does not quite make the coveted Storm Seal of Approval.

Why we think it’s a great listen: You may have thought the movie was scary, but this is pure Stephen King as it was meant to be experience – performed frighteningly well by Campbell Scott. First published in 1977, The Shining quickly became a benchmark in the literary career of Stephen King. This tale of a troubled man hired to care for a remote mountain resort over the winter, his loyal wife, and their uniquely gifted son slowly but steadily unfolds as secrets from the Overlook Hotel's past are revealed.
