This audiobook has it's funny parts, but I wouldn't listen to this multiple times. David Cross is a very funny comedian. In this audiobook, he goes out of his way to make your listening experience odd by repeatedly going off script, scolding the listener for buying the audiobook instead of the "real" book and summerizing chapters instead of reading it. To start, the preface is read twice, once by Johnathan Benjamin and then a second time by Cross himself. There is a chapter Cross made a list for movie directors of odd movie plots to ensure a award winning film, but he had a band sing this entire list, rather than reading it (the band sucks, btw). This book would be a better read while visiting your bathroom vs. anything else. The parts that are funny are very funny, but the rest is just annoying.
The Narrator is AMAZING. I loved this book. I've already listened to the series twice!
I haven't found a comparison. Each book in the series was stand alone good. I've never had a series captivate me like this one did.
No - this was my first. I will definately look up her others.
YES - I listened to the entire series within a week!
LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!!
I think I'd prefer the print version. The accents for the main characters, Jack and Herb, were a little distracting. Once I got used to it, it was a godd storyline and I really liked Jack's character.
The main character, Jack.
No - I broke this one up.
If this was made into a TV show or movie - Maria Bello would be PERFECT for Jack!
The narrator's voice was trying. I decided to buy the paperback and read this one to avoid the annoyance of the narrator's voice.
This was my first one.
Get a narrator that has less of a valley girl sound to it. Claire Danvers is not a valley girl so why would the voice of the book sound that way. Horrible match.
These books are very addicitve. Although I'd say Harris' writing has a very subjective audience, some parts are down right ridiculous. But, if you're looking for a storyline that does not take much thought to follow and need a few unintended laughs, these are the books for you. They are so bad, they are good.
The title fits this book very well. Half of it did not make sense. I did not make it through the entire book.
This book is very amusing. We listened to this on our 14 hour drive to Chicago and it kept our attention. Fisher Stevens narrates this book so well, you'd think he was the actual characters. I have already listened to this title twice now. Well worth the money spent.
