I love all the other Blackadder audios, but I had forgotten how many sight gags were in the first series. It's frustrating to have long pauses and then bursts of audience laughter and you don't know what is happening.
The other 3 series are fabulous, though. The character of Blackadder changed from the spineless creep of the first series to a wise-cracking and witty hero who doesn't need sight gags.
This is my favorite of the Blackadder series. Just erudite enough and full of wit...well, at least in Edmund's case!
Hugh Laurie is a great witless Prince and Baldrick is the same through all the series....es.
Unlike the first Blackadder series, this Elizabethan one relies on dialogue, wordplay and wit.
I can listen to it over and over again.
I like to watch the birds in my yard, that's why I picked up this book. But you don't have to care about birds or know anything about them to enjoy it. The obsession the characters had was amazing and the whole experience pointed out to what lengths people will go when they feel they are in a competition.
I usually give up on unabridged books (short attention span) but I listened to every word of this one and was disappointed when it ended.
