"Disappointed"
I was so hopeful the reviews would be wrong. I loved the premise of the book and really wanted to love it. It had moments that were good but they were few and far between. Over and over I was saying to myself,
have the characters learn from their mistakes
geese section
I liked how he described some of the magic.
"What a wild ride"
This series is wonderful. This is just one more in a long line of seriously wonderful books. I didn't like the new narrator nearly as much as the last one. Sometime Harry sounded more like what Butters seems to sound like. On that note, Butters was perfect. If you like the series so far and can work with a good but different narrator then you'll love this book.
"Not bad"
Fun book with decent action, characters, and plot. It wasn't an epic book by any means but the story wasn't bad. The characters were ok not having near the meat I normally like but they weren't bad. Overall, this book was a good break while I waited for the next book in various other series I follow. It did have some wonderful scenes that made the slow and odd sections well worth it!
"Fun"
This book was fun. Not my favorite but pretty good. I really enjoyed the richness of the characters. All of them were very well done. The book ended very abruptly and the last half was not nearly as detailed as the first. Overall though, it was pretty good.
"Unimpressed"
I was really disappointed in this book. I was expecting something like the Dresden files but instead got a watered down poor version of the TV show Supernatural. I didn't find the characters believable, nor did I like them at all. They were rude and obnoxious from the beginning to the end of the book. The villains were talked about as though they were incredibly tough and evil and I found them to be very week and not evil at all. Come on, nearly immortal bad guys, who once ruled the entire world, being totally rocked by a 21 year old kid with a sword… I don't think so. I did finish the book but it was really tough.
"awesome"
I've listened to well over 100 audio books and this is my first review. I've found with most books (nearly all) there are down times or parts you wish you could skip. This book had none. I looked forward to every point of view and relished every moment with each character. I found the world to be both terrifying and beautiful and incredibly well described. The characters were so lifelike I felt like I could reach out and touch them. They were so… human. This has become my favorite book. I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next one.
