From the perilous ocean crossing to the shared bounty of the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrim settlement of New England has become enshrined as our most sacred national myth. Yet, as best-selling author Nathaniel Philbrick reveals in his spellbinding new book, the true story of the Pilgrims is much more than the well-known tale of piety and sacrifice; it is a 55-year epic that is at once tragic, heroic, exhilarating, and profound.

Good book, but less about the Mayflower and more about the early Americans' conflicts with the Indians.

The author of Across the Wire offers brilliant investigative reporting of what went wrong when, in May 2001, a group of 26 men attempted to cross the Mexican border into the desert of southern Arizona. Only 12 men came back out.

    Invaluable to Everyone.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The entire book was moving from the viewpoint of the illegal immigrants as well as the border patrols.

What did you love best about Copper Sun?

Good time period book. Shed light on the taking of slaves from Africa, the slave ship, the sale of the slave, and some new light on the life of a slave.
