The book would have been better if about half of the characters were cut and the remaining characters developed.

yes the story is good and the ability of the author to communcate with exciting vivid language is excellent.
The plt was not up front, Therefore the plot was a surprise.
The description of who people and places were were all enthralling.

Eileen, because she was the energy of the three generations. She was the glue that connected her father to herself and to her son to become a teacher whhile managing a 51 year with Alzheimer's disease.
Ed's letter written to his son when he first learned about the disease not to be given to him until after his death.
The book was very good, but for me would have been just as effective without the sexual references. We all know about those and don't need the distraction. It is the only thing that might keep this book from being a Pulitzer.
Yes, the author reveals facts, that I fact check but she also shares her personal experience which is astonishing. I am not from the South and was only 7 years old when this even happened but my empathy for Melba and the others was aroused. It's hard to understand how people like Faubus existed.
I think the author's own suggestion to read the life of Gandhi is good.
I got a lot of stares from my family and questions because she is very dramatic.
Everyone and every high schooler should read it.

I wouldnot read anymore Klein. In this book he is obviously one sided, pro Clinton, anti Obama. It's a gossip type book that will sway non thinkers. Save your money, there are no sources so you don't know if you would be repeating a lie or not. Very unbalanced. But it will sell maybe it was paid for by Clinton?
This is National Inquirer genre, entertainment.
Everything is monotome
I know to avoid Klein, he is not an academic.
The author picks and chooses what supports his atheism and agnosticism so much the title is not examined. He should write a book on suicide.

No this is not a book but a mess. A nightmare of sentences or disjointed thoughts that that the author says began in his head. Who would say something like that. There is no outline, no story, no reference of order. It could be an attempt at how not to write. Save your money.
History of Spain by Walt Disney.
The narrator reads as if he hates the USA and we should speak Ute.
A character would be a good idea, he uses names but not enough information is given to have a character.
I heard the author speak on CPAN Book TV and thought I would give it a try even though I could bare understand him and he appeared insane. My mistake.
