Assertions like these seem comical until you realize that many Christian parents aren't kidding when they teach them to their children as facts. Every day, impressionable young minds are conditioned to blindly accept wild biblical tales of floating zoos, talking shrubbery, 900-year-old humans, the undead, curses, levitation, demon/human hybrids and men who obtain super-human strength from the length of their hair. Allegiance to these teachings is expected, often demanded.

Would you try another book from Seth Andrews and/or Seth Andrews?

No the author never touches on any genuine issue. It is pop culture-hype only.

Has Deconverted turned you off from other books in this genre?

No just this author, read Susan Jacoby.

How could the performance have been better?

That's all it was a performance a no brainer.

What character would you cut from Deconverted?

The author who was the narrator.

    Any additional comments?

The author needs to be serious aboout why he changed from believer to non-believer. This book is just pulp.

Princeton, New Jersey, at the turn of the 20th century: a tranquil place to raise a family, a genteel town for genteel souls. But something dark and dangerous lurks at the edges of the town, corrupting and infecting its residents. Vampires and ghosts haunt the dreams of the innocent. A powerful curse besets the elite families of Princeton; their daughters begin disappearing. A young bride on the verge of the altar is seduced and abducted by a dangerously compelling man - a shape-shifting, vaguely European prince who might just be the devil.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I have read the bio of Wilson and William James and the beginning is very interesting. Then you will need tooth picks which the author tells you about puss or Puss. You will get sick of puss. Then wear the seat belt so you can finish the book.

What could Joyce Carol Oates have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Leave out the middle.

What about Grover Gardner’s performance did you like?

    excellent

What character would you cut from The Accursed?

    Puss

    Any additional comments?

Too much puss and snuff and shouldn't the murder be more central than Wilson, Princeton and the Nassau Club?

He is Walt and John Valjean.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a good book book for people who are patient and open minded and not close minded.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dr. Kai was the hardest working person in the book and explained more about the story than any other person.

What about Kris Faulkner’s performance did you like?

Ver flexible but there are errors and can be over looked.

    Any additional comments?

This is a Southern Baptist Book , Texas Culture and a clash with Asian culture. However if you like this type of story you you may go to bed late a couple of days and learn a some thing if you research the subject and get the book. It's a novel and I think it's great for me. Sure it's not perfect but what is. You may learn a lot by giving the author a chance about Mao, PKD cross cultural adoption problems andhow wonderful the world is and isn't, yin yang, feng shui.

This is the book the CIA does not want you to read. For the last 60 years, the CIA has maintained a formidable reputation in spite of its terrible record, never disclosing its blunders to the American public. It spun its own truth to the nation while reality lay buried in classified archives. Now, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Tim Weiner offers a stunning indictment of the CIA, a deeply flawed organization that has never deserved America's confidence.

Where does Legacy of Ashes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks high but is depressing to learn that the USA is trying to steal, lie, and cheat so much.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Now that Petraeus has had an affair why not get rid of the CIA and give it to someone else?

    Which scene was your favorite?

I am a Vietman era Vet and so the Vietnam info was helpful to process.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Eisenhower was right, don't believe a word they say.

    Any additional comments?

You need to listen to it or read it.

What would have made American Pastoral better?

Roth could take lessons from Wallace Stegner. You don't have to descrive everything about sex in every book. Humans know about sex. Use words that inspire not just to sell books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Seymour, he is doing the rightthing.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    The narrator was great.

What character would you cut from American Pastoral?

It was a great book I am looking forward to seeing what they do with the movie. It represents my lifespan. I fel sorry for the younger people in the book.

    Any additional comments?

Tell Roth to avoid John Updike's determined to exalain sex in every book. We got it.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

It needs a plot, characters, and a purpose other than an attempt to be vulgar.

Has A Visit from the Goon Squad turned you off from other books in this genre?

This is not a genre, it is a waste of time and money.

How could the performance have been better?

    By not speaking.

What character would you cut from A Visit from the Goon Squad?

    All of them.

    Any additional comments?

    It stinks.

Catherine has been enjoying the single life for long enough to know a good catch when she sees one. Gorgeous, charismatic, spontaneous – Lee seems almost too perfect to be true. And her friends clearly agree, as each in turn falls under his spell. But there is a darker side to Lee. His erratic, controlling and sometimes frightening behaviour means that Catherine is increasingly isolated. Driven into the darkest corner of her world, and trusting no one, she plans a meticulous escape.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Readers who like to hear the F word used as plot, theme and story to excess.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Definitely not, slow and discusses the F word on every 60 second segment.

Would you listen to another book narrated by David Thorpe and Karen Cass ?

    Narrators are good.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It is misleading, Katherine Bailey has OCD with sex more than door locks. It is a good example of the decline of literature in western civilization.

    Any additional comments?

If you like to hear the F word used repeatedly as literary form this book is for you. Save your money and just write the F word about 1000 times.
