Call Me Irresistible is the book Susan Elizabeth Phillips's readers have long awaited. Ted, better known as "little Teddy," the nine-year-old heartbreak kid from Phillips's first best seller, Fancy Pants, and as "young Teddy," the hunky new college graduate in Lady Be Good, is all grown up now—along with Lucy from First Lady and Meg from What I Did for Love. They're ready to take center stage in a saucy, funny, and highly addictive tale fans will love.

Usually I enjoy books by S.E. Phillips, but this one made for painful listening. Sadly, I wonder where the writer of 'Breathing Room' has disappeared to. With the next Phillips novel, I'll skip it.

For Beatrice is a paid companion on a secret mission - and with a secret past - and she must be prepared to fight for her life at any moment. Yet she is thrown oddly off guard by the fierce-looking man who joins her in foiling a crime outside a fancy ball - and then disappears into the shadows, leaving only his card. His name is Joshua Gage....

I love Justine Eyre's narration - it definitely made this story more interesting. Unfortunately, I felt like fast-forwarding through sections of this book because the story bogged down in places.

For more than 300 years, Bluff House has sat above Whiskey Beach, guarding its shore - and its secrets. But to Eli Landon, it’s home.… A Boston lawyer, Eli has weathered an intense year of public scrutiny and police investigations after being accused of - but never arrested for - the murder of his soon-to-be-ex wife. He finds sanctuary at Bluff House, even though his beloved grandmother is in Boston recuperating from a nasty fall. Abra Walsh is always there, though.

The storyline in Whiskey Beach would have fit perfectly into a short story format. It was frustrating to stop knitting and fast forward through the tedious parts, of which there were many. I listen to Nora Roberts when I'm in need of some light entertainment. This was a tedious slog through nothingness. No more Nora Roberts for me.

In my view, the narration was fine. It's hard to do much with a dull storyline.

Once upon a time, a historical romance author created a family.... But not just any family. Eight brothers and sisters, assorted in-laws, sons and daughters, nieces and nephews (not to mention an overweight corgi), plus an irrepressible matriarch who's a match for any of them.... These are the Bridgertons: less a family than a force of nature. Through eight best-selling novels, listeners laughed, cried, and fell in love. But they wanted more.

I agree with the previous reviewer -- if I remembered each of the novels in the Bridgerton series, I would be able to figure out the 'second epilogues' collected here. Instead the book reads (for me) as a collection of disjointed, albeit sometimes amusing, vignettes.

The narration is splendid. It is for that reason that I listened to the entire book.

A young woman with a foothold in two cultures, Rei Shimura has gone wherever fortune and her unruly passions have led her throughout her chaotic 20s. Now, after the streamers for her 30th birthday celebration have been taken down, the Japanese-American antiques dealer and part-time sleuth finds herself with an assignment to find and authenticate an ancient Middle Eastern pitcher that disappeared from Iraq's national museum.

Years ago, I came across the first mystery of Sujata Massey (in book form) and loved it. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that her latest Rei Shimura mystery was available here. The narration was excellent - I kept track of the various characters without problem. There are several sub-stories to the main story which added to the richness of this mystery. What I particularly love about this series is the way Sujata Massey weaves in interesting details of Japanese history and culture.

Since I always listen to audiobooks while knitting, I spend long spells engrossed in books. Some books lend themselves to short bursts of listening, but this is not one of them.

I hope Rei returns as I am sure she will (fingers crossed).

Amy Wellington is about to get married and she couldn't be more miserable. Sure, she loves Peter Johnson, but the problem is her mother, Pepper. Amy hasn't spoken to her in over a decade and for good reason: Her mother is cursed with being interesting. Take for instance, Amy's real name: Sausage. She blames her mother entirely. The wedding will take place at the beautiful Leelanau Lodge, a secluded spot in northern Michigan. When Peter convinces Amy to invite her mother, Amy knows there's going to be trouble.

If you are in the mood for some light-hearted romantic, mildly-suspenseful comedy, this is the book for it. Tanya Eby is one of my favourite narrators so I was delighted to see that she had turned her hand to writing as well. I hope this is the beginning of a series featuring the hippiesque Petter Wellington. Her daughter, Sausage, is a wonderful character too.

Heloise considers it a blessing to be a person who seldom attracts attention. In her suburb, she's just a mom, the young widow with the forgettable job, who somehow never misses a soccer game. In the state capital, she's the redheaded lobbyist with a good cause and a mediocre track record. But in discreet hotel rooms throughout the area, she's the woman of your dreams - if you can afford the hourly fee. For more than a decade, Heloise believed she was safe, managing to keep up this rigidly compartmentalized life. But her secret life is under siege. One county over, another so-called suburban madam has been found dead in her car, an apparent suicide.

Where does And When She Was Good rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've listened to every Laura Lippman book on Audible. This was one of her best - Linda Emonds rocks as a narrator. I wish she narrated more books!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. There were unexpected twists and turns to the story that kept me wondering what would happen next. Heloise's choices make sense based on what we learn of her past. Laura Lippman is a master of character development.

Have you listened to any of Linda Emond’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to every Linda Emond performance of L. Lippman's books. This was one of her best. They are all good though.

Who was the most memorable character of And When She Was Good and why?

Oddly, I was drawn to the character of Audrey and her pivotal role in the story. She was a constant yet she still remains a mystery. In a good way.

    Any additional comments?

Please write more books, Ms. Lippman!
