Manolito De La Cruz knew he was dangerously close to turning into a vampire. The last thing he expected after being called back to his Carpathian homeland by Prince Mikhail was to catch the scent of his destined lifemate in MaryAnn Delaney. MaryAnn is human, but she knows all too well the overwhelmingly aggressive instincts of Carpathian males.

Vicki says: "best of all the "dark" series."

This was fast paced and filled with action, danger, humor, romance and excitement. I loved Maryann and Manolito characters. Christine Feehan at her best. I rate this highly along with Dark Demon. I found myself laughing out loud during various scenes in the book. The narrators were great with Jane and Phil reading Manolito and Maryann. This made it more enjoyable and more character driven.

Dominic, of the Dragonseeker lineage - one of the most powerful of the Carpathian lines - is desperate to go to the very heart of the enemy camp and learn their plans. There’s only one way to do so: ingest the parasitic blood of a vampire. Solange Sangria is one of the last of the jaguar people, a royal pureblood, a dying species that cannot recover from bad decisions made over hundreds of years. Now, at the end of their time, they find each other - an obstacle neither saw coming, and which neither can hope to ignore.

As brutal as the undead he hunted, Zacarias De La Cruz was a master executioner. Now his stark and savage journey has ended. For his brothers, Zacarias had walked to the edge of madness, but with centuries as a killing machine now left to the past and without a hunt to define him, Zacarias wonders, for the first time in his life, who he really is.

While I enjoyed reading the book, I did not enjoy the narrators. I did not like that they read separately. It would have been better if they had interacted the male and female characters together. It would have made for a more enjoyable listening. It was difficult hearing the female narrator reading the male sections and same with the male narrator. It made for a very disjointed listening experience. Dark Peril and Dark Slayer were so much better as the narrators Phil Gigante and Jane Brown did their parts interactively so it was a good dialogue between the characters in the appropriate male/female voices.

A rumor has persisted in the vampire world of a dark slayer - a woman - who travels with a wolf pack and who destroys any vampire who crosses her path. Mysterious, elusive and seemingly impossible to kill, she is the one hunter who strikes terror into the hearts of the undead. She is Ivory Malinov. Her only brethren, the wolves. Long ago betrayed by her people, abandoned by her family, and cast out by everyone she held dear, Ivory has lived centuries without companionship or love.

I loved this book. It answered so many questions and the storyline was great. This begins a new era for the Carpathian race in their struggle to survive. I loved the interplay of characters, especially Gregori and the snowman fight and the scene in the healing caves. Razvan and Ivory are an awesome couple and I look forward to Dark Peril...a whole year away, oh boy!!

Lara Calladine is haunted by childhood memories of being held prisoner in an ice cave and kept sane by the whispered stories told to her by her imprisoned aunts. They instilled mage and Carpathian magic deep within her and then helped her escape.

While I enjoyed Phil and Jane reading of Dark Possession, I did not like the narration in this book. The accent was awful. I actually preffered Richard Ferrone to their reading of this book. I hope that Dark Slayer will be a much better listen. Still, if it isn't I always buy the book :-)

Loved this first book in the carpathian series. Mikhail and Raven are great together although I think Gregory stole the show with his dark dry wit. Story line was great and the action amazing,

I have not laughed so much as when I read this book. This was a good read/listen. I loved Natalya and Nicolae. There was so much action in this book and Natalya is such a strong character and the perfect compliment to Nicolae.
