Drizzt joins Bruenor on his quest for the fabled dwarven kingdom of Gauntlgrym: ruins said to be rich with ancient treasure and arcane lore. But before they even get close, another drow and dwarf pair stumbles across it first: Jarlaxle and Athrogate. In their search for treasure and magic, Jarlaxle and Athrogate inadvertently set into motion a catastrophe that could spell disaster for the unsuspecting people of the city of Neverwinter - a catastrophe big enough to lure even Jarlaxle into risking his own coin and skin to stop it.

    K. McDowell says: "Pleasantly Surprised."
"So far the worst book of Salvatore"

Would you try another book from R. A. Salvatore and/or Victor Bevine?

    Probably not.

Has Gauntlgrym turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I love the character of Drizzt, but this story is weak.

Would you be willing to try another one of Victor Bevine’s performances?

    Maybe

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    HUGE disappointment.

    Any additional comments?

The story line is way to jumpy, the time keeps progressing without any hint of what happened in between the years. They kill off two characters and theres nothing but a minor mention of it. The character of Barrabus is obviously Artemis Enteri. I didnt have to get past the first 4 chapters to know that. Its painfully obvious. I am a devout R.A. Salvatore fan, but I cant finish this book.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

What made the experience of listening to The Final Empire the most enjoyable?

The whole book! Brandon Sanderson amazes me everytime I pick up a book that is penned by him. The dynamics of the characters just floors me.

What other book might you compare The Final Empire to and why?

I cant, the series stands alone.

Which character – as performed by Michael Kramer – was your favorite?

I would have to Kelsier. Just made him stand out. Really brought what I had imagined the character to be to life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    The Hero Will Rise

When the world was young and Gods still walked among their mortal children, a headstrong orphan boy set out to explore the world. Thus began the extraordinary adventures that would mold that youthful vagabond into a man, and the man into the finely honed instrument of Prophecy known to all the world as Belgarath the Sorcerer.

What would have made Belgarath the Sorcerer better?

The book is one of my favorites from when I was older. The narration on this was just terrible. The audio quality wasn't that great, I had to keep turning the volume up on my headset to hear it. There was a very huge lack in making each individual character there own. There where a few that had a voice of their own but that's about it. I will avoid this narrator like a plague.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Not sure.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of J. P. Linton?

ANYONE else. Cameron Beierle would have been my first choice on this book.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Dissappointment, then anger.

What would have made Brisingr better?

A different narrator, just couldn't get past the voices that the narrator used.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gerard Doyle?

    Anyone

"My name is Kvothe. I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep...."

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to everyone. I bought "The name of the wind" on a whim, just checking it out. I was hooked after the first chapter.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wise Man's Fear?

The whole book is amazing, but when Kvoth is training and see the wind at the Tree of Swords is probably one of my favorite parts.

Which character – as performed by Nick Podehl – was your favorite?

Kvoth is such a strong character, he shows his entire spectrum. Loved it.
