From the opening line the author/reader has 'you', and you are the main character. Voice, pacing and story kept me hooked; luckily I was on a road trip or I probably would have driven in circles to finish it. Hamid is a master at his craft.
Harold Fry is a soft and sympathetic character who learns as much about himself as others on this impulsive journey. Jim Broadbent's reading is spot on. A bit rambling and repetitive at times, but overall a good listen
Unbelievable what these men went through. Just when you thought all was lost, or that they were on the verge of being saved, a new twist. The opening through the survival at sea was riveting while the POW section went on and on a bit like torture; but to be fair, I have no idea what I would have left out. Amazing courage.
