I have not read an Evanovich book for a while. I really liked the first 5 Stephanie Plum novels. This book is a cross between Leverage (TV Show) and Stephanie Plum. I did not feel the chemistry between Kate and Nick. The story was thin. I really wanted more. Jake and Kate's relationship was the best part of the book.
A bit overdone for me. The story reminds me of the Secret Garden with a dash of Dickens and a pinch of Anne of Green Gables.
The story line moving between three generations of women kept the pace going or I never would have finished the book. I enjoyed the narration. Unfortunately there was not a big pay off at the end. It was predictable.
I'm listening to the Harry Bosch series in order and this book by far is the best. The story behind his mother's death ended with a satisfying conclusion. The LAPD shrink and his love interest added weight to the storyline. I did not think I would continue to listen the Bosch series but after this book I'm hooked.
