An American classic
I can't narrow it down to one, but they are Uncle Tom and Eva
When George proclaim, he would not disguise his race by passing for White, and he would continue to support the cause of abolishing slavery.
Uncle Tom's Coup de grace!
I can't believe I've passed by this book, dozens of times. Harriet Beecher, which I've learned played a vital role in supporting America's abolitionist against slavery, really out done herself. The dangers of writing such a novel in the 19th century, especially as a woman was quite daring. This is truly piece of art, that should be indulged by all races.
I fell in love the first time I read it, and obsessed on the second round. The new novel Winter of the World is about to be release, and I thought I should brush up on the characters. I swear it's like reading it for the first time, I can put it down. The characters draw you in from beginning to end, I just want the book to go on forever. The story take you on an endless journey, from many different angles. Their description of the war makes it hard to just side with America, because you empathize with the other countries. The love stories, the families, and the brotherhood of the service men, really make you think about your own relationships. When I pick this book, I didn't know anything about Ken Follet, nor was I interested in any war story. Little did I know I found a gem, that went way past my expectations.
Grigori giving his brother Lev Peshkov his ticket. I would tell you more, but the scene touching and sad at the same time, I don't take that away from the reader.
Yes! It is because of John Lee, that I read Ken Follet's Pillars of the Earth, and World w/o End. Sometimes I forget that it's only one narrator, I think that's why I love his style so much. John puts faces on the character, and walks me through the scene.
I had many reactions to this book, especially the loyal, yet complex relationship between the Russian brothers.
If you've never read Ken Follet, please, please read this one.
Absolutely! The story is a nail biter, it kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
Jamie of course, his unwavering loyalty is what keeps me enthralled throughout the book.
Jocasta's will to go on after witnessing her daughter's death, and the secret relationship she had was quite interesting too.
Jocasta Cameron, and Mrs Hayes, but if I had to choose it undoubtedly be Mrs. Hayes
I just want the series to go on, and on, and on........
Roger clawing his way back from death
I like them all for different reasons, but if I must choose, it would have to be Clair.
Davina Porter sets the book on fire, her narration is quite enchanting. Davina makes me forget that it is she who does all the voices.
I dont want the story to ever end...
The relationship between Claire and James was very endearing.
World without End
Help me to envision what the characters look like
When James had to beat Claire it almost crushed me
The first part was boring and I almost put it down, but I hung in there and Im so glad I did.
When he lost Prabaker, and when he had to fight off dogs with the little boy.
This book sat in my library for a few months. I couldn't get pass the first couple of sentences, but once i committed, I couldn't put it down.
You will not be disappointed, I promise you.
Deliria for not giving up, although she was dealt a crappy hand.
When Deliria wakes up to find her husband is no longer her husband.
When Jamie said "The things i do for love"
I wasn't really curious about the HBO show G of Thrones until I read the book, I hope they do it justice. As a matter of fact, I'm not going to see it until I've listen to all the books. So I'm not tainted by Hollywood's version of it.
First let me start by saying I love almost everything written by Rice, however this one was a really snoozer. Save your money
The narrator brings this classic alive. At times it was so real, I caught myself crouching down, looking from side to side out of fear. Much better than the movie.
Was it believable? I dont know. Do I care? No! Great story, found novel quite interesting, I couldn't put it down.
