The novels of Conn Iggulden bring the past to thrilling life, from ancient Rome to 13th-century Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Now he delivers the spectacular story of the rise of Genghis Khan’s grandson, a man destined to become one of the most remarkable rulers who ever lived - the legendary Kublai Khan.

Would you listen to Conqueror again? Why?

I would, as the details of the story are many, and I would like to catch more of them the next time I listen to it.

What other book might you compare Conqueror to and why?

Very much in line with the other books by Iggulden in the Genghis series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but it is quite long. Very gripping story line.

Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Great book. Have not had so much fun with a Grisham novel for a long time.

Have you listened to any of Michael Beck’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not but he does a great job bringing the characters to life.
