I class this book with Frank Herbert's "Dune" series. Fantastic storyline, considering when it was written, with Richard Brewer drawing the listener in with his narration.

If you are fans of Frank Herbert, Clive Barker and even Isobelle Carmody, and enjoy sci-fi with a difference then this download is for you! I will certainly be downloading the sequel for this...

I was introduced to Andre Norton a few months ago, and this has reopened my love for old-fashioned sci-fi... The twists, the imagination - wow... Love the different style that Andre Norton adopts.

I love driving, but now I love the audio books that go with the trip :) This is simply a "must-have" for your audio library...

At last, one of the world’s greatest works of science fiction is available - just as author Stanislaw Lem intended it. To mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Solaris, Audible, in cooperation with the Lem Estate, has commissioned a brand-new translation - complete for the first time, and the first ever directly from the original Polish to English. Beautifully narrated by Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Galactica), Lem’s provocative novel comes alive for a new generation.

I thought I would take the leap and choose a book by an author unknown to me. Though I love the genre, I listened to the sample, and decided on impulse to download it.

I was totally surprised - the narrator had a verbal "personality", and there WAS a storyline. If you enjoy sci-fi, please buy this and be surprised.

When a Cistercian monk, Borlace Alvetham, is falsely accused of witchcraft and condemned to death by his rival, Brother Paslew, he sells his soul to Satan and escapes. Granted the powers of a warlock, he returns in the guise of Nicholas Demdike to witness Paslew's execution for treason. Dying, Paslew curses Demdike's offspring -- who become the titular "Lancashire Witches."

Wonderful period novel, graphically written though the clarity varied slightly in some chapters. This may be a download issue only?!? Well worth listening to as Andy Minter adds some rather interesting nuances to his characters!

I am so happy with this narration. It's as detailed as the book and have thoroughly enjoyed listening to Paul McGann!
