Easier to understand.

The ticking is the Death Watch Beetle that taps on the rafters looking for a mate.
The only character is the narrator and she is very good. She has a precise voice that is soothing and easily understood. That is what is needed for this book This book is a compenduim of many of the wicked bugs known and their habits. It is wonderful to listen to but you might not want to leave the house, much less travel too far. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Mystery to the end

Ron Keith is a particular favorite of mine I and I originally chose the book on his merits. The book turned out to be a winner. I found out years ago the listening to a book being read was a far better experience than reading. While reading is a pleasure of mine, listening provides many nuances lost when reading.

I would have but I have the Ipod in my car for use while driving.

I listened to the first seven hours hoping it would get better. I did not continue as it just seemed to be an interminable bodice buster with vampires. In my opinion it could not be more boring.

The overall would have gotten all stars except for the potty mouth Vic. She lacks likability and, in real life I would tolerate one like her for one minute. She is a detraction to the story

Audio is more intense without being sensationalized

There is a second book in David Pelzers saga and both are worth reading. These are books that cannot be equaled.

This story would defy being made into a film. The horror of it could not be duplicated without becoming a sensationalized film as only Hollywood can do. If it were to be filmed, I would never watch it. It only in real life and the spoken word that the story is alive.

David Pelzer is a monument to the strength of the human spirit.

Joe Arpaio is a hero of mine so I was pleased to find the book. However, the narrator does not sound like I think Sheriff Joe would sound. Joe should sound like a well spoken but rough and tumble sheriff. The narrator is too well spoken to sound real. In addition, there are too many "I's." It would just be a matter of rephrasing here and there. Maybe it would read better in not written in the first person. I am not trying to negate Sheriff Joe's accomplishments. They are many and extraordinary and I will forever be amazed by the man.

I enjoyed Odd Thomas enough to read it twice. The next was not bad but did not compare. Brother Odd was a bit hard to get through but I persevered.

Now I have attempted Odd Hours. After listening to more than three hours, I gave it up, I could only think "get on with it". It might get good or at least better by the end but I do not have the patience.
