"Narrator is so boring it can put you to sleep..."
I have been far more pleased by Holly's narration in other books, but her voice was so monotone in this recording, it was putting me to sleep. I took breaks with other books in order to complete the story. This seriously needs re-recording.
"Way too long...."
The story was good, but it takes too long to tell it. Lots of boring spots. Narrator is pretty good. I'm not sure it was worth the credit.
"Very poor narration..."
I haven't even finished the story. It seems really simple so far, but the narration does not differentiate between characters and situations - little emotional difference. This makes the story seem boring. I don't think it's worth the credit.
"Not as good as Bedding Lord Ned..."
This story is a little more silly that the first books and I don't think the narrator did as smooth a job. I would like to read the next book though when it's available.
"Not the right narrator....."
I would recommend you actually read the story rather than listen to it. It's a childishly written and expressed romance of the old west. Way too much repeating of individuals thoughts and feelings. It's good for a 12 year old!
"A sweet western romance, but with reality...."
It's worth the credit for this listen. Although the narrator isn't good with the voices for each character. it's not distracting from the story. With twists and turns, the story winds around a good tale.
"You've got to hear it...."
If you like historical romances, you'll like this book. But the scene where two lords are reviewing a romance novel to see what the heroine likes is the best part of the story and will have you continuously laughing out loud! While Emma Powell does not do male voices all that well, her timing and tone are impeccable. Well done ladies!
"Another winner by Robyn Carr...."
I can hardly wait for more. Jumping off from Virgin River series into a new series with new characters, and a new environment. But same great stories, and Therese Plummer does a great job narrating as usual.
"The narrator tried too hard, but the story is good"
I enjoy this highland romance. The characters were strong and the story exciting. However, Sarah Coombs put too much stress on too much of the narration. While the accents were good, there was no time to relax because stress was put on most of the narration. It's still worth your credit, but the narration can be irritating. I kept having to take a deep breath to relax my muscles!
"You'll recognize the characters....."
These vignets fit right in with the series. I can hardley wait for a new book to come out, You'll recognize all of the characters and their continuing stories. it's worth the credit to listen to the short stories of their continuing lives.
"Don't bother wasting a credit..poor narration..."
I bought this book for old times sake because I cut my eye teeth on Barbara Cartland stories. While the story is very simple and typical of Barbara, Christian Rodskjaer was a poor choice of narrator for this book. He managed to make the hero seem creepy because of the voice he chose. The characters' voices and pacing are not differentiated enough to prevent boredom from setting in. Don't bother buying this reading.
