A Christmas Carol narrated by Tim Curry is the shining star in my collection.
I never tire hearing the moral of this study of human behavior, caustic reality of the times and redemption of the wretched side of all of us. Dickens gets to the heart of the matter of all mankind, unless we look around and release ourselves from self absorption we are damned to a life of empty materialism, loneliness and isolation.
Tim Curry was born to narrate this story. I have heard others, but none others have captured the different characters like Tim Curry.
Due to the length, a short intermission is required.
Who among us is so self deceived, so wrapped up in their narrcissistic existence that they can no longer be moved or humored by the common events of life. Mr. Gafigan's talent for bringing those common events to light is a divine gift and while his own humility forbids his self endulgence down that road, he holds himself in reserve, saying just enough about a topic or event to find the humor and then moves on to the next item rather than milk a topic to death like so many "observation" comedians until the spark of humor is gone. As pointed earlier, if you cannot find a smile or a slight ah huh at these thoughts and ideas then I believe you have ceased to be human and have progressed into the abysmal creature you thought you should be. I would, without reservation, recommend this book to friends.
The entire cast
I look forward to more from this artist.
With the like of Dawkins and his crackpot, unstudied ilk its great to hear a voice of a person who was passive in their assumptions about the afterlife and now, impossibly and against all known understanding of the human brain, Eben Alexander now believes.
