"SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS!!!"
Because of all of the positive reviews I expected this book to be good but it actually exceeded my expectations. I liked virtually everything about it from the complexity of the plot, to the abilities of the characters as well as the relationships between them. The only thing that was a little unrealistic was the psychological development and understanding of a person in his early teens, but this observation did not really take anything away from the story. The story is crazy creative and highly imaginative not to mention one of the most unique books I have ever read. For these reasons and the fact that it was well written, and perfectly executed the book deserved to be given five stars.
I didn't find the book confusing or difficult to follow, but I definitely had to pay attention. What was confusing was the narration, which pretty much sucked! In the beginning of the book there was one narrator, then it suddenly changed. You had different narrators doing the voices depending on what chapter you were in. The tones varied widely and didn't represent the characters at all. This started about halfway through the book and continued until the book ended. I can't imagine why this was done but it was the most unprofessional narrating I have ever encountered.
With that said, I have never read an OSC book and after reading this one, I am looking forward to reading more. Even with the bad narration I highly recommend this book. It is refreshing in it's originality and makes for an interesting and entertaining read.
"This Was A Waste of A Credit!"
I like all genres and was in the mood for a little romance. In the past I have read Lisa Kleypas and this book sounded good... Boy was I wrong. There is nothing interesting about this story. It is so cliche and boring and the characters are one dimensional, I couldn't relate to them on any level. I never stop reading a book in the middle but I just couldn't get through this book without torturing myself. When I came to the conclusion that I didn't care about finding out what happened to thes characters I just stopped reading. Lisa Kleypas has some decent books, but this isn't one of them.
"Enjoyable And Oh So Entertaining!"
I would listen to this book again because it was pure entertainment.
I would compare this book to Divergent.
She has a way of bringing the characters to life with creative and interesting accents that I don't think I wouldn't have come up with in my head.
The whole book came together so well it's difficult to pick out one thing. However, I will say it was pleasing to see the development and maturity of the characters as the book progressed.
This is a very good book and I am amazed that a first time writer could deliver this kind of product. I was really captured by the story and can't wait for the next installment. I highly recommend this book.
"Totally Predictable"
I thought the book was extremely cliche. It became boring because you knew how the book would end.
I've never listened to any books narrated by Tracy Anne Warren and I don't think I want to repeat the experience. Her voice was very monotone. She used the same voice for all the males and the same voice for all the females. It really wasn't convincing at all.
flat, unimaginative and boring.
Some twists and turns would have set it apart and made it not so predictable. Maybe some mystery and some humor... anything to set it apart! I had a hard time getting through it.
