A Week in Winter ranks about midway plus in the audiobooks I have listened to thus far.
The most memorable moment for me was ehn all the guests had arrived. How exciting to finally have all the characters in place to watch how they would interact.
Roslyn landor's performance was steady so that I never once fell asleep listening to her voice. She kept my attention focosed on the characters and the story as it unfolded.
And the next visitor will be ...
At first I wanted all the characters to have arrived at the beginning of the book, but then realized that they come one by one to a bed and breakfast and so this was a clever way to introduce each one before bringing them all together. Fascinating plot!
Yes I would listen to Life of Pi, again, but skip over the gory parts. In fact I will. iwant to hear details again about India, about the various religions he studied and how he came to love RichardPparker at the same time as learning how to respecti him. All these are integrated into the story and I want to study just how this fascinating story is woven together. What an amazing imagination Yann Martel! What an amazing book!
Richard Parker waking up hungry!
Pi explaining how he got his name is hilarious.
The name is perfect now and I woulld not change it.
I loved the movie! Be sure to watch it . See how the gory parts are handled - or not handled!! Don't miss the beautiful beginning scenes of India, especially of the market and the zoo.
The Good Earth ranks a a five star rating. It is as good a read s it was when I first read it in the 1950's.Timeless, It will continue to be a great read. This audio book adds a new dimension so that is becomes a five star listen.
There was no favorite for me. Each had its own place in telling of the story as it unfolded. Many do not even have names, but clearly stand out when they play a part.
Great reader. Held my attention never faultering.
The hero's first "woman" as she was referred to in the book. She needed more loving attention. He only realized that too late!
This book as a classic should be on the book shelf of every reader. The audio book adds a new dimesion to the literature and should have a special place beside the hard cover copy. Twinning them will make a wonderful reading afternoon.
A realistic, engaging account of a big brother helping his younger brother through a medical crisis. I recommend this for families and friends who face a similar experience. The reader kept my attention throughout with his enthusiasm in reading the story.
