I have every Enders Game book, but should have checked the performance on this prior to purchase. Very irritating, screechy. I returned the book. Stefan Rudnicki is the only tried and true performer.
Baby talk, screeching and distracting at best.
I had to stop listening when the molestation of a fifteen year old was graphic. It was graphic and if it were on film, the makers of the film and/or possessors of the film would be arrested for child pornography. I get that it is a period piece and depicting other cultures but it is still inappropriate and immoral to glamorize this in an erotic manner.
I will not purchase another Amy Tan book.
It is sad to see the decline in this authors writing.
New to this author, his work was refreshing, funny and crisp. The story took me back to walking through my mother's passing as well. His accurate portrayal was painful, realistic and poignant.
The chronically snappy presentation was annoying after chapter two, by chapter 12 it was terminally frenetic as if every word had an explanation point behind it. I gave up on the book due to the constant pounding.
I'd say buy the hardback, skip the audio.
