  • Buddhism for Beginners

    • ORIGINAL (9 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Jack Kornfield

Created specifically to address the questions and needs of first-time students, here is Buddhism's vast spiritual legacy, presented by one of America's leading meditation teachers.

Anna says: "Might be difficult for true beginners..."
    "Better than Expected"

Mr Kornfield's presentation is informative and at times, very funny. If you've been curious about Buddhism, I would highly suggest that you give this audiobook a try. Even if you are not looking for enlightenment, this selection has information for leading a calm, centered and spiritual life. At first the live audience threw me off but I came to appreciate their reactions and laughter and got great enjoyment from it. I also purchased Meditation for Beginners from Mr Kornfield and have also found it helpful and enjoyable. Listen at bedtime for a great nights sleep.

  • Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Todd Burpo, Lynn Vincent
    • Narrated By Dean Gallagher
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Colton Burpo made it through an emergency appendectomy, his family was overjoyed at his miraculous survival. What they weren’t expecting, though, was the story that emerged in the months that followed—a story as beautiful as it was extraordinary, detailing their little boy’s trip to heaven and back.

Jill says: "Heaven is For Real"
    ""as dad puts it""

I was sincerely disappointed in this book. If I'd have know that this was the father (...pastor's...) recollection, opinion and analysis of what happened I would not have wasted time or money on this book. I would have just rented it from the library. It may seem cynical but I have trouble with the way he twisted and justified everything that he wrote with scripture instead of leaving the reader to interpret.

  • City of Fallen Angels: The Mortal Instruments, Book 4

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Cassandra Clare
    • Narrated By Ed Westwick, Molly C. Quinn
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

City of Fallen Angels take up where City of Glass left off. With Valentine out of the way, Clary thought she and Jace could finally be together--but when someone starts murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle and leaving their bodies around New York City in a manner designed to destroy the new peace between Downworlders and Shadowhunters, she realizes the past can never be left entirely behind.

    Tabitha says: "Hmm..."
    "Could have been five stars"

Once again Ms Clare has not failed to deliver with her Mortal Instruments series. This book was well worth the wait and again, I anxiously wait to find out what happens next between the shadowhunters and downworlders. She has given us an ending that begs for the next books release. I would have given five stars but I MUST deduct a star for the narrators. The male narrator was good but the female narrator was hard for me to listen to. It was like listening to a scared/emotionless 12 year old read out of a textbook. I also wish they would have used the male/female narrators more as characters instead of having the male read female parts and the female read male parts. I will be sending an email to Cassandra Clare. I hope they pick a better female voice for the next one.

  • Water for Elephants

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Sara Gruen
    • Narrated By David LeDoux, John Randolph Jones
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

    Kindle Customer says: "Great Narration!!"
    "Something for Every Generation"

This book was recommended to me by a 64 year old woman, I'm 47, I recommended it to my 25 year old daughter. We all agree, this is an intriguing novel that will stir your emotions and senses. I could almost smell the circus and feel the rock of the circus train as the author pulled me deeper and deeper into the lives of the characters.

I commute 2 hours a day and have used audiobooks to pass the time for three years now. I'm sure I will pull this book from my library again and again to relive the adventure.

  • Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India, and Indonesia

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Elizabeth Gilbert
    • Narrated By Elizabeth Gilbert

Around the time Elizabeth Gilbert turned 30, she went through an early-onslaught midlife crisis. She went through a divorce, a crushing depression, another failed love, and the eradication of everything she ever thought she was supposed to be. To recover from all this, Gilbert took a radical step. She got rid of her belongings, quit her job, and undertook a yearlong journey around the world, all alone. This is the absorbing chronicle of that year.

    Kerry says: "Witty and Wonderful"
    "Waa, Pray, Love"

I'm a divorce survivor too but it was extremely difficult to relate to this person. No wonder she was willing to take a year off to strengthen her relationship with her Higher Power. ...I enjoyed the book more when she got past Pity City and after trudging the long road to the "spiritual" part of her journey...I began to enjoy the book more.

I just don't see what the big deal is about this book...And I can't believe someone wanted to make a movie from it.

Nice touch having the author do the reading. That was the most enjoyable part.

  • The Lost Symbol

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Dan Brown
    • Narrated By Paul Michael
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol. Within minutes of his arrival, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object is discovered in the Capitol Building. The object is an ancient invitation, meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of hidden esoteric wisdom. And when Langdon's mentor is kidnapped, Langdon's only hope of saving him is to accept this invitation and follow wherever it leads him.

    Frank says: "Not his best"
    "Dan Brown does it again!"

I am a Dan Brown fan and I believe this was possibly his best work. I didn't think he'd be able to beat Angels and Demons but he might have with this one. I was hooked with the first chapter and could NOT stop till the story had been spun! Great work! I'm glad I got the unabridged version, I wouldn't have wanted to miss a minute!

  • The Jester

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By James Patterson, Andrew Gross
    • Narrated By Neil Dickson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Hugh De Luc, a poor innkeeper, returns home from the First Crusade wearied from battle and disillusioned by carnage. After journeying from the Holy Land back to his own small village, he finds his nightmare is just beginning.

Sheridan Race says: "Spellbound and engaged"
    "Not a crime drama"

I'm a James Patterson fan and found this to be a refreshing book. Well written and an interesting storyline and characters...this book made the long drive to and from work really enjoyable.
