"BORING!!!!"
It was very painful to finish listening to the book! The whole book is a lead in to the final chapters, which is where it starts to get good...but then it ends and it's over....not really worth the time if you ask me
"The help"
LOVED the book...one I will be reading (listening to) over and over again!! I just loved the characters! Now I cannot wait to see the movie!! I promise you that you will not be disappointed!!
"Laugh out loud funny!"
Molly Harper is my new favorite author....I just love her snarky humor and how nothing is perfect in the main character's life...it makes them more relatable. Although the book did feel a little like Twlight, like the romance between Bella & Jake and the whole werewolf thing....I was able to get over it, because the romance in this book is completely for adults only! And after listening to this book it makes me want to move to Alaska just to see if I find me one of those hunky werewolves, who apparently don't attack humans!
"Loved it!!"
I just love Jane and everything that the she went through...I could relate to her at just about every stage of her life. Love..mystery...and keeps you guessing along the way....and I truly believe that every girl should read (or listen to) this book!
"OMG this is freaking hilarious!!!"
Ok, I'm not one for liking romantic books, especially those for adults, but this one is so laugh-your-butt-off-funny!!! I listened to it at work and on several occasions I had to stop what I was doing because I was laughing so hard that I had tears streaming down my face and I just wanted to share with the girls around me! I honestly though that I would not like this book just from reading the summary alone, but gave it a chance after reading what others had to say and I'm SOOOO glad I took a chance on it. And I'll be listening to more of Molly Harper's books!
"Too predictable"
This book is not at all what I was expecting! You learn right from the beginning that Mallory is just using Phoebi and when Ryland shows up, his actions are just as predictable and so boring. It's reading or listening at a 6th grade level, but some of the scenes are for 17 & up.
And the main narrator's voice was just a tad annoying! If I were you, I'd skip this book or wait for it to go on sale!
"Not what I was expecting"
OK....i LOVE fairytales and books based around fairytales...but not this one. The book was ok, but it was not what I was expecting at all....the author took fairytale creatures and gave them an all a new life, which is not what I'm use to and he also used a hodge podge creatures that really didn't make sense And since the book is meant for young readers (especially boys) the plot line was a little predictable. But I think young readers will this.
"a little disappointed"
I love the voice Christopher Plummer, but i thought he did such a dreadful job on reading.....and just as others have said.....his voice gets so quiet that you can barely hear what he is saying, so you turn it up and the next thing you know, your ear drums are being blasted out because he's now yelling. I also thought that the different voices he give the characters were very bad. In some parts he dramatized, not just a little, but a lot....to the point where I wanted to stop listening altogether, because it was hard to understand what he was saying, which made it hard to understand what was going on in the story. I had to force myself the finish this book.
If i could do it over, I'd one read by a different person......please do not let the sample fool, like it did me!
"Dragons, Monsters, & Beasts...OH MY!"
I just loved this book, even though it's geared towards younger readers. I think I was more drawn into because of my artistic background...the thought of having to pay high prices for color and it being controlled by powerful people intrigued me, because color is all around you and if you wanted to you could make your own...but not in Melkin Womper's world. This books makes me wish I was young again, just so I could have an imagination that hasn't been tempered with by growing up and being told is so in the world we live in.
"Twilight meets Hogwarts"
The book is not about vampires or wand welding teenagers, but it's more of the romance at an elite academy. I literally couldn't stop listening to this book...it's only took me two days to through!
Not many books make by cry, but at the end of this one I just couldn't help it.....there was just so much love....it made me wish that I was Renee!
