A tale of archetypal heroes and sweeping adventures, of dragons and princes and evil wizards, here is epic fantasy as only Stephen King could envision it.

    Overall

The book is nothing like what you would expect from Stephen King. It shows the past of a few of his characters such as flag a undying evil that shows some of his roots….. Bronson Pinchot did a great job reading this and it was a very good listen not a must but a great book showing kings different side then suspense and horror of other books.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this is quintessential early King. One of his early works and epic in scale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Stand?

Reading as the fabric of all society and decorum of humanity falls apart when facing the end.

    Which scene was your favorite?

There are way too many parts of this epic tale to pick a single point to bring out.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

want to or not you would have to take just over two days to get it all done.

At Mile 81 on the Maine turnpike is a boarded up rest stop, a place where high school kids drink and get into the kind of trouble high school kids have always gotten into. It’s the place where Pete Simmons goes when his older brother, who’s supposed to be looking out for him, heads off to the gravel pit to play “paratroopers over the side”. Pete, armed only with the magnifying glass he got for his 10th birthday, finds a discarded bottle of vodka in the boarded up burger shack and drinks enough to pass out.

Which character – as performed by Edward Herrmann and Thomas Sadoski – was your favorite?

they both do a very good job of narration, the stories are compelling and they keep you interested.

Some of my favorite king book hook me early and take me for a ride and this is one of those.
