I never knew Dead Until Dark existed until I saw the series True Blood on HBO. I love True Blood, but must say that Dead Until Dark is better. Dead Until Dark is the story of Sookie Stackhouse; a waitress (who happens to be able read minds), her boyfriend Bill (who happens to be a vampire) and many other interesting characters who live in a small town in Louisiana. The story of Dead Until Dark is told from the perspective of Sookie who lives in a world where vampires have, "come out of the coffin." It is a good vampire story with down home southern flair.

The story is read by Johanna Parker who does a wonderful job telling the story from Sookie's prospective.

American Prometheus is a great story. The performance by Jeff Cummings is good. The editing of this performance is the worst I have ever heard. The sound quality, sound volume jump so much in this audio book that it is distracting. At times it is hard to concentrate on the story line with the constant changes in sound quality.

This book is no more than a shadow of the two books that precede it. This book would have been better if the writer would have taken time to write a story instead of doing a drive by.

Like in the first two books of this series Jay was great reading the story…..unfortunately this book didn’t have much of a story to deliver.

This book sounds like what would happen if Monty Python ever wrote a skit that made fun of a science fiction story. Clive Catterall reads his lines with all the delivery you could ever ask from Monty Python. Unfortunately, I didn???t make it past the second chapter.

I???m listened to all 14 Elvis Cole ??? Joe Pike books??????this could be the best.

Luke Daniels does a great job of making the characters in the Sentry come alive. The story moves at a quick pace and has just the right amount of both Joe and Elvis and as always, Elvis??? cat. (That???s my kind of cat)

It???s nice to see that Robert Crais still has good story lines for Elvis and Joe.

In the Heart of the Canyon is first and foremost an adventure. It is the story of a 13 day river rafting trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. This story gives you insight into the minds and personalities of every member of this trip. From the Guides, all the way to small dog that just shows up the first day of the trip; you get a real look into the lives of a bunch of strangers as they travel together down the Colorado and the bonds that are formed during the trip. There are times where the heat of the canyon radiates off the pages of this book.

The Heart of the Canyon is read by Mark Deakins and Cassandra Campbell. Mark Deakins does a great job playing most of the members of this raft trip. Cassandra Campbell does a wonderful job playing Amy; a 17 year old overweight girl who is traveling with her mom and really doesn't want to be there.

This is a great story that makes me want to take my adventure down the Grand Canyon.

This is the story of Avery Cates who lives in a not too distant version of New York. A New York and world that has been devastated and is run by the Haves; everyone, including Avery are little people. Avery is a killer for hire who is down on his luck, who by no fault of his own killed a System Cop and is now a hunted man. Make no mistake; Avery is a very bad man. Now Avery has been hired to kill the head of the Electric Church. The Electric Church is the fastest growing church in the world. The converts of the Electric Church must die; then have their brains transplanted into droid bodies; where they live forever.

The story is a good and fast moving; even with a couple of preposterous meetings/rescues that are eventually explained. I like the characters and the stories progression. I would have given this book four stars, except the last 33 minutes of the book are readings from what I will call the Bible of the Electric Church. Like most bible readings;I just couldn't finish it.

This book is read by Todd McLaren who I have listened to in the books Altered Carbon and Broken Angels. One of the reasons I choose the Electric Church is to listen to Todd again. If you like Todd McLaren you should like his rendition of the Electric Church.

Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle have written a lot of books together, but for me this is their best! Footfall is a story that takes place in the 1980s when a hostile alien spaceship visits the earth; where dominating U.S. and Russian governments distrust each other. Larry and Jerry give you insight to the inner workings of U.S. and Russian governments as they prepare for this first alien encounter and possible war with each other. They also give you insight to the Aliens plans and politics as they make their approach Earth. I find Footfall to be one of the more believable stories that concerns first Alien contact with earth and how the people of Earth would react. For those Larry Niven fans; Footfall is OLD Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelleat their VERY best.

The narration of Footfall by Macleod Andrews is great. I first listened to Macleod listening to Sandman Slim and later purchased The Lock Artist; just to hear Macleod again. I was happy to hear Macleod on this recording of Footfall.

Footfall is hard science fiction at its best.

This reading of Woken Furies is nothing less than 22 hours of virtual interrogation. When you start listening you notice that there is a new narrator.
William Durfis is a good narrator; I've heard him before. Then you notice what will become the endless and unneeded use of reverb on the narrator's voice. Then you will notice the fact that the narrator doesn't even know how to pronounce Takeshi Kovacs name. (This is where they put the blowtorch to your feet) HOW can the producer and Richard himself have not told the narrator how to pronounce Kovacs name correctly when Richard made such a big point of how his name was pronounced in the first two books? The combining of not so special voice effects with the mispronouncing of Kovacs name is nothing less than torture. Know that this book is a great read, but this reading of Woken Furies has turned a great story into a grind right to the death..for all of you who are interested in buying this recording; DON'T. Buy the book and read it.
If you listen to this recording you will find yourself saying,"That's f_ _ king ENOUGH."
