I find Brene Brown amazing and inspiring. I love her other books and the information she writes about has been a great help to me. And....I had to get this book in print because the narrator was very poorly suited for this amazing book and powerful message. I was so excited for this book to be released on audio, but I can't get through Karen White's just so darn sweet and melodramatic reading. I would buy this book again on audio if it was re-recorded with Brene as narrator, or the narrator from Brene's previous books.
Only if it's a Mary Higgins Clark Mystery
Yes, I would recommend this book. Very sweet and the perfect amount of suspense and mystery. I loved the character development. Great twists and turns, and she ends the book amazingly perfect! I've listened to only one of Kate Morton's other books, but will be downloading the others.
Tina Fey's Bossy Pants. Because they are both very irreverent, and snort while laughing funny. I loved Tina's book, but I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Jenny's book.
I'm a 54 year old Gma, and I nearly fell off a ladder ( pruning trumpet vines) while listening to this book. I was laughing so hard that my son came out to see if I was ok. I can't remember another book that was as funny as Let's Pretend. Jenny's narration was perfect. Her ability to mix pain, heartbreak, embarrassment, and humor are a rare gift. I must admit that I found her use of profanity a possible new form of art. I found her chapter on metal chickens enlightening, and who can't use one more lesson on couch etiquette. She gives us all permission to be a bit more authentic, and to not get so stuck in our own baggage, and issues.
If you enjoyed "The Help" or "The Secret Life of Bees", you'll enjoy this book. A nice mix of sass, and spunk!
This book is wonderful! I cheered, cried, and laughed as I listened. It's tender, and spunky with a good dose of "you go girl"!
Witty, and wonderful. Fell in love with every character as well as the format, and story.
This is the first book I've taken the time to review. there was very poor character development. I didn't fall in love, with anyone, or the story line. Very predictable and I really had a hard time making myself finish this book. The hospital/medical situations were poorly researched, and silly. The "woo-woo" music at the end of every chapter increased the pain. I will say that when the author traveled back in time, her story was much richer and she painted a much better picture than when she came back to the 1990's
