A groundbreaking major best seller in Italy, Gomorrah is Roberto Saviano's gripping nonfiction account of the decline of Naples under the rule of the Camorra, an organized crime network with a large international reach and stakes in construction, high fashion, illicit drugs, and toxic-waste disposal. Known by insiders as "the System," the Camorra affects cities and villages along the Neapolitan coast

    Roy says: "Eye Opener"
"not bad but not what i was expecting"
    Overall

I purchased this book because of the publicity around it, but did not know anything about the author or even the subject matter.
It opened my eyes to the subject matter and the unrivaled violence of the crime group. In that it delivered.
It is a raw look at the system and how it affects the territory and people of naples.
In my view. The only problem was that I went in expecting a story and found none.
    Again.
my fault for buying without knowing more about it.
For a look at this organized crime book it has to be one of the best sources in the market

One of only sixteen unembedded American journalists who stayed in Baghdad's now-legendary Palestine Hotel throughout the American invasion of Iraq, NPR's Anne Garrels was at the very center of the storm. She brings us the sights, sounds, and smells of our latest war with unparalleled vividness and immediacy.

Native Texan says: "My favorite book of the year!"
    "Must Read!!!!!!"
    Overall

I have to say that this is a truly amazing book. One of the best I have read about the war.
It is a tale in wish the reader will live the fear, hope happiness, rage, love, of a human being surviving and inhuman situation. This is far from a documentary, but an amazing narrative that will capture the imagination of readers for a long time to come?.
    A must read?

English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory.

    "Great but unfinished..."
    Overall

I have to say that I truly loved this book. It is filled with great sites, incredible characters, magic, a flawless narration?.. I have to say that after 30 hour I was still deeply into it. Never lost the desire for more?. But?. I also fell like it left some loose ends? like maybe there is a part 2, that is my only quarrel? I sat down one day to listen and it was over? I didn?t see it coming, and expected a lot more?..
But.. It any case?. This is still a great book? all the aspects that make an audio book great are here? and the reader will enjoy it?.

A tour-de-force novel set in ancient Japan filled with passion, fantasy, and feuding warlords. The first volume in the highly anticipated Tales of the Otori trilogy.

Jody R. Nathan says: "Wonderful epic story"
"The first in a great series?."
    Overall

It has been said that the power of fiction is in the belief in the underdog?. If this is true? then this I a true powerhouse of a title.
In it we fallow takeo grow from the most humblest origins and follow a path that will take him face to face with some of the most powerful people in his society.
The book is written with a great attention to detail, not just for the character witch are very well write?. But also for this fictional Japan. I found myself in awe of the beauty of the land, the texture of the culture, the mere richness of the details in this great book.
If I said this book was great just for the story, it would be an injustice?. This book is great for all of the sights and sounds that take you into a far away land and make you feel like a powerful samurai
A great start to an excellent series?

Charlie Wilson's War is the untold story behind the last battle of the Cold War and how it fueled the rise of militant Islam. George Crile tells how Charlie Wilson, a maverick congressman from east Texas, conspired with a rogue CIA operative to launch the biggest, meanest, and most successful covert operation in the agency's history.

Chuck says: "Best Non-Fiction Book - Extremely Compelling!!!"
"History comes to life in this book"
    Overall

This is a great book. I often found myself wondering how the author could possibly know so much about this war and most of all the vast number of characters in it. The story delves deep into the humanity of the war?. So much so that it sheds incredible light for anyone wanting to learn more about the history of the of the Afghani people, and the struggle against the soviets.
Something else that had me enthralled with this book has to do with the fact tat this war was a factor in the fall of the Soviet Union, an event in history that truly has changed the world.
Yet? the most amazing thing about this war is Charlie Wilson, a true champion for his cause, the greatest of all anti heroes?.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Kapila says: "6 titles in the series so far"
    "Well read, intelligent? a classic"
    Overall

I was told to check out this book by person after person around me. I finally made the decision to pick it up and it is a decision I will not regret.
It is well narrated, and greatly written. From the very beginning you become a fan of Ender, and cheerleader in his war against the buggers. It is exiting and very refreshing, and original.
