  • The Little Prince

    • UNABRIDGED (2 hrs)
    • By Antoine de Saint-Exupery
    • Narrated By Humphrey Bower
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A pilot stranded in the desert awakes one morning to see, standing before him, the most extraordinary little fellow. "Please," asks the stranger, "draw me a sheep." And the pilot realizes that when life's events are too difficult to understand, there is no choice but to succumb to their mysteries. He pulls out pencil and paper... And thus begins this wise and enchanting fable that, in teaching the secret of what is really important in life, has changed forever the world for its readers.

Heather says: "A children's story for adults"

This is a wonderful story, at any age, and with Humphrey Bower narrating, it was sheer pleasure to listen to...

  • Someone Wonderful

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Barbara Neil
    • Narrated By Tania Rodrigues

Set in London and Tuscany, Someone Wonderful casts a magical net around the lives of six people: Grace Teape; her orphaned niece, Lily; her young lover, sculptor Johnny Cochrane; her photographer brother, Oliver Cary; his journalist wife, Melissa; and their blind son, Sebastian. With irony, elegance, and insight, Barbara Neil explores the limits of our capacity to protect our own in this joyous and heartbreaking novel.

  • Leveraging the Universe and Engaging the Magic

    • ABRIDGED (3 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By Mike Dooley
    • Narrated By Mike Dooley

Leveraging the Universe and Engaging the Magic reveals that our part is the easy part - we need only to provide the spark to light the Universe's powerful fire. In this original audio program, Dooley explains how you can use the gifts of thought, word, and deed to harness the grace of the Universe to help you choose your path, chart your course, and create the life of your dreams.

    Estra says: "Absolutely wonderful!!!"
"Mike is great, but this is recording bad!"

I really like Mike Dooley's message, his energy, his ability to inspire, but I AM SO DISAPPOINTED in this recording. It's a live recording, which can be tinny sounding anyway, and then he has a cold and he tries to stop all of his sneezing, which is a weird sound; gasping for breathe, or something. I can't bring myself to listen to after the first time through, which I feel is a total waste of money.

  • The Ship of Brides

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 34 mins)
    • By Jojo Moyes
    • Narrated By Nicolette McKenzie

The year is 1946, and all over the world, young women are crossing the seas in the thousands en route to the men they married in wartime. In Australia, four women join 650 other brides on a voyage to England, aboard the HMS Victoria, which also carries 1,000 naval officers and men. Rules of honour, duty, and separation are strictly enforced, from the captain down to the lowliest young stoker. But the men and the brides will find their lives intertwined in ways the Navy could never have imagined.

    Laurie says: "A nice read"
"Well Done- both author and narrator"

It's a slice of history that I had never read about, and the characters are very well developed. The story flowed nicely, with enough mystery to keep you interested, but not to the point of tormenting, as some stories do. Also, there a nice balance between tragedy, and the "happily-ever-after" fairy tale that we all wish for deep down inside, but needs to be served up with a bit of real life disappointments so we can believe it's possible. So we can swallow the whole thing. This author did a fine job of balance, so in the end, you are filled with satisfaction, and a sense of "all's well".

The narrator did a great job. Her accents are great, her delivery excellent. I would seek out other stories read by her.

  • The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

    • UNABRIDGED (21 hrs and 45 mins)
    • By David Wroblewski
    • Narrated By Richard Poe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Born mute, speaking only in sign, Edgar Sawtelle leads an idyllic life with his parents and an unusual breed of dogs on their farm in remote northern Wisconsin. But when tragedy strikes the Sawtelle family, Edgar flees to the surrounding wilderness. He comes of age in the wild, fighting for his survival and that of the three yearling dogs who follow him.

    Ella says: "Just OK"
"what was all the hype about?"

I admit; I was sucked in by all the ranting and raving of Oprah promoting the book, and I'm a dog lover, so I gave the book a try. It's a decent attempt at a first novel, but I feel the book needed a couple more rewrites to give it better flow, and have true meaning. A story needs to take on some depth, and leave us with something rich in the end, whether to be joyful or tragic. Just when I thought the story was finally developing into something I could sink my teeth into, (i.e. the father's visit as the rain, or Edgar's time with Henry) it would shift, and go back to dragged-out scenes. The story ended with pointless acts of violence, and by the time I got there, I couldn't even feel sad. I was left feeling flat, and a bit disappointed. It was almost a good story.
