Okay, so jogging through Central Park after midnight wasn't a bright idea. But Margrit Knight never thought she'd encounter a dark new world filled with magical beings, not to mention a dying woman and a mysterious stranger with blood on his hands. Her logical, lawyer instincts told her it couldn't all be real, but she could hardly deny what she'd seen...and touched.

For the most part I would say that it was worth the listen, and the credit. I enjoyed the Characters, the overall story and the narrator.

That being said some of the parts in this book made me cringe the way the author describes things such as facial expressions is terrible, at times it felt like a bad TV movie with horrible actors. On top of that is the "romance" it seemed a bit forced and I actually thought at one point that the author is turned on by the idea of a massive gargoyle member... Crass I know but that's how I felt. I should state that the topic of the Gargoyles manliness is handled as tastefully as it possibly could be.

I liked the story it was enjoyable, its characters engaging, and the narrator is superb. If you like fun supernatural stories then give it a shot as I said its worth the listen. Its not quite as good as the Dresden files by Jim Butcher, but until Audible gets all of that series its a fun alternative!

    There's a nice compliment sandwich.

  • Duma Key: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (21 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By John Slattery

A terrible accident takes Edgar Freemantle's right arm and scrambles his memory and his mind, leaving him with little but rage as he begins the ordeal of rehabilitation. When his marriage suddenly ends, Edgar begins to wish he hadn't survived his injuries. He wants out. His psychologist suggests a new life distant from the Twin Cities, along with something else.

    "Better then ever!"

Stephen King has created a masterpiece with Duma Key. That being said it is NOT your average King novel... Its not in my opinion a Horror novel more like a suspense novel. its long and that may not be for everyone, But its perfect for me because I love my books to be worth every penny or credit, and I was never bored.

I found the narrator to be very good and the characters and their development throughout the story to be very enjoyable, I found myself getting very attached to the characters and was concerned for them and their well being which makes for one heck of a fun book.

The story is uniquely king and it does take its time getting into the supernatural, it just slowly builds up to it, and the suspense slowly builds up as well.

If you are looking for an action packed book then you should probably pass, but it was perfect for me.

Overall my favorite book of the year so far.
