I bought this one through the paperback sale, and I am glad I did. This is a dystopian novel, set in what seems to be New Orleans post a massive hurricane that has left it beyond repair or rather people no longer wanted to restore a place that would just be storm ridden again in the future, a lost cause. The only inhabitants live off of scavenging ships that have been left behind after the "city-killer" storms. The author reminds me of James Dashner, if you enjoyed Maze Runner, you will enjoy this!
The Maze Runner trilogy is among my favorites. This book is an excellent conclusion. Mark Deakins really makes the story. I have friends who have read the books, but I chose to listen to them because Mark brings every character to life. I have never heard a narration done so well. He flawlessly flows from character to character, each with their distinct voice that is consistent throughout the series.
This book was really great. There is nothing wrong with the narration. I read the reviews before purchasing and almost decided against it because of all the poor reviews for Vane Million the narrator. However I think she did a beautiful job, and I would really have missed out. I am so glad I purchased. I am also a fan of Hunger Games, Maze Runner, The Giver, and so many other YA dystopia/post apocalyptic literature.
I love this type of literature. Dystopia!!! If you are a fan of Lois Lowry's "The Giver" you will most definitely enjoy this. While it is from a teenage girls perspective, and romance is certainly not overlooked, the story is well written and leaves you wanting more! The sequel due in November of 2011!!
