"Not even finishing"
No, this is a genre I am not interested in.
I chose this book on peer recommendations, but ....I'm not even going to download the second half. It's like listening to paint dry. DULL....Narrator is ok...not great. However, the story is a revised for of Hunger Games. Once was enough in this genre for me...
"Fake Accent?"
McGovern is an enjoyable actress as Lady Cora, but as a novel reader, she was difficult to understand. She seemed to be placing a slight English accent on the character...who was from Kansas...and it didn't enhance the reading, but rather made it so difficult to understand the book, I bought the Kindle version and read it w/out my Audible. For someone who loves the new Voice Ready books, this is should tell you how BAD the reading was.
LOVED the story and will seek out this author again.
"Funny"
First book I've read by C. Moore. When I'd finished A Dirty Job, I immediately bought Lamb and found it even better! Both books are great reads/listens. Fisher Stevens is an amazing reader.
"Historical...and entertaining"
Funny, different, thought provoking
Great voice inflections and changes for each character.
Brought back all the well known stories (gospels) from the Bible...homilies from Mass...and gave the perspective of how they might be said today. Explored the frustration of how the Son of God had to 'wing it' as he discovered and learned what his Father wanted from him during his life on Earth. Entertaining and thought provoking. Loved the book.
"Great story in need of an ending"
Rich characters that you cared about. The plot lines were believable and the threads between all the characters well done.
As the title states, I invested the hours listening to this wonderful story, but the ending was abrupt. Without giving too much away, I felt as if the author just ran out of steam and stopped typing....gave it a quick summary paragraph and sent it to be published. Disappointed.
"Good attempt at a historical saga"
Not very highly...because the audio was difficult to understand. The narrator was attempting to imitate the cockney Brit accents or deep Irish brogues and ended up making it almost impossible to clearly 'get' what she was saying at times.
See comments above. Less accent, more enunciation.
No....took me a few months. Not something that gripped you
Would have been only 3 stars, but it picked up the pace at the end. At least it gave the story a close with it's prologue.
"Great 'read'"
I found myself in that great spot of not wanting the book to end, but very curious HOW it was going to wrap up. Fabulous book~ As a history teacher, I was fascinated!!
"Dull"
Wasted my time hoping for an interesting turn to the plot that would make this investment worthy of the last days of summer. It didn't happen. My history textbooks I will be teaching with next week will have more drama!
"History"
I enjoyed the history that was intertwined into the plot, to help the story be more meaningful. Interesting story, with a lot of twists and turns. Great narrator!
