Carol Burnett gives a splendid performance reading this audiobook, award-worthy, in my opinion. The stories range from hilarious to heart-breaking. To hear them in her voice is to savor her talent, but what I appreciated most is her courage, kindness, and gratitude.

This was an outstanding listen, with superb narration. I was impressed with Rebecca Skloot's remarkable powers of observation and objectivity, and found it refreshing not to be walloped by a writer's agenda.

I was expecting the science story to be intriguing, and it is, but the interweaving of the Lacks family members into the fabric of the narrative is masterful. The real-life events of Henrietta's children held me in a grip, and often kept me listening long past the points I planned to pause.

The Mississippi sound and rhythm of these voices had me engrossed in the story within minutes. Eighteen hours flies by, and the author's remarks at the end are a perfect finish.

Any age 50+/- Southern Girl will find these characters lodged in her heart.

Superb narration by different voices, each with a perspective on the unfolding story. The story is dramatic and tense, infused with vivid and painful images. This book and the Blues would be the perfect audio mix for a road trip through the Delta.

What a fun listen! Kristen performs this audiobook in her doll of a voice, and she had me in a smile and a giggle the whole way through. She's the best combo of down-home goodness and stage talent since Dolly Parton. Even though she's a star, it's her message that shines through: faith, family, and friends come first.
