  • The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search for Growth Through Music

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Victor L. Wooten
    • Narrated By Victor L. Wooten
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"'Boy, do I have a lot to learn!'" Anyone who's ever picked up a musical instrument of any kind - from the first caveman banging rocks to that little kid at the guitar shop - has thought that. I know I did. I'd been trying for years to break in to the music scene, to show everyone my chops, to make my mark. And I was good. But I wasn't great. I knew that there was something wrong. Then the teacher showed up...."

Tomas says: "Surprise like no other!"
    "Surprise like no other!"

This buy was a shot in the dark. Never heard of Victor or this book. My expectations were very low. But I needed to motivate myself as I could not bring myself to practising my guitar. So I gave this one a try and Lord ... whata a find. I love how the words are backed by music in the background (although I find Mike's performance irritatingly overacted) and I can't get enough of the content. Music as mystery and invisible mighty force. No phony stuff and cheap superficial spiritualism (at least to my mind). That's what you will find there.

  • Practicing the Power of Now: Teachings, Meditations, and Exercises from the Power of Now

    • UNABRIDGED (2 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Eckhart Tolle
    • Narrated By Eckhart Tolle
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Practicing the Power of Now is a carefully arranged series of excerpts from the The Power of Now that directly gives us those exercises and keys. Return to those words, reflect on the words, reflect even on the space between the words and - maybe over time, maybe immediately - you'll discover something of life-changing significance.

    Jan says: "Excellent Refresher"

I liked very much the Power of Now. This one is really a needless repetition. Eckhart, why would you want to double charge us? My advice: Skip this one, stick with the original.

  • The Time Traveler's Wife

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Audrey Niffenegger
    • Narrated By William Hope, Laurel Lefkow

This extraordinary, magical novel is the story of Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, a librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36, and were married when Clare was 22 and Henry 30. Impossible but true, because Henry has Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his past, present, and future.

Lucy says: "Worth trying to sort it out"
    "Great, only ...."

I liked the book very much. It was clever and kept me drawn in most of the time. The only thing that disturbed me was the description of the erotic scenes. Not that I would mind erotica. Its just that they were free of subtleness and intimacy, just lust and sweat. Quite disgusting really. In my opinion it just did not match with the rest of the story, full of longing and doomed future.

  • Don't Say Yes When You Want to Say No

    • ORIGINAL (57 mins)
    • By Herbert Fensterheim, Jean Baer
    • Narrated By Herbert Fensterheim

Stop waiting for what you want, go out and get it! Have you ever felt powerless, unhappy, or inhibited? Rather than letting others control you, take control of yourself! This practical, thorough program is packed with anecdotes and proven exercises to help you understand and use the techniques of assertiveness training, techniques that work!

A User says: "Short, to the point and very helpful."

The contents may be fine, but the quality of sound is a disgrace. I would not dare to offer this for sale.

  • Desire of the Everlasting Hills

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Thomas Cahill
    • Narrated By Brian F. O'Byrne

With the same lively narration and irresistible perceptions that characterize How the Irish Saved Civilization and The Gifts of the Jews, Cahill invites listeners into an ancient world to commune with some of the most influential people who ever lived.

    Victoria says: "for the layman..."
    "A delight"

I liked it very much. Being attracted by history and religion, this one satisfied my tastes entirely. I liked the temperate presentation free of ecstatic exigency. I am not a Christian myself and I am definitely not a fan of religious organizations of whatever religious denomination. This book is about the core values and that is why I am releasing five stars.

  • Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By John Eldredge
    • Narrated By John Eldredge
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Every man was once a boy. And every little boy has dreams, big dreams: dreams of being the hero, of beating the bad guys, of doing daring feats and rescuing the damsel in distress. Every little girl has dreams, too: of being rescued by her prince and swept up into a great adventure, knowing that she is the beauty.

    Michael says: "Healing & Understanding"
    "Just too wild"

Sorry folks, I am gonna be the black sheep. I didn't like it. I didn't like Brave Heart either. I had to quit half way through being tired of the phoney masculin note. I suffered particularly when the "Gladiator" was quoted. I do not believe this is true picture of a man. My opinion: too wild too superficial. Can a life frustration by solved by a purchase of a motorbike or engaging in adrenalin sports? Is that what this book is suggesting?

Theresa says: "Best audio of the year for me"

So far the best audio book I have heard. Unlike some other readers I enjoyed most the part before shipwreck, full of pleasing insight. The end is also a highlight though.
