Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

This book was amazing. It's definitely one of my favorites and one I'll never forget. The voice of Enzo was great. Ahhh, a very moving story. I cried a great deal but I learned so much too. I do love dogs, but the book wasn't just about the dog -- not hardly. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

The Edge lies between worlds, on the border between the Broken, where people shop at Wal-Mart and magic is a fairy tale—and the Weird, where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny…Charlotte de Ney is as noble as they come, a blueblood straight out of the Weird. But even though she possesses rare magical healing abilities, her life has brought her nothing but pain.

It's sad. I normally don't quit books when I'm over half way done. After I read the first one in this series, The Edge, I was thrilled to see that there were more. But I realized after the second one that they were all very similar. The love stories are all the same pretty much and, even though the plots are different, they are very predictable. The narrator is pretty good but some of her voices and accents are weird. I'm glad this series is over.

You will see God's Word in a new and inspiring light. In the Bible's seemingly disconnected stories you'll discover one grand, unfolding epic - God's story from Genesis onward, and your own story contained within it. To understand the Bible, says author and pastor Randy Frazee, you need bifocal lenses, because two perspectives are involved. The Lower Story, our story, is actually many stories of men and women interacting with God in the daily course of life. The Upper Story is God's story, the tale of his great, overarching purpose that fits all the individual stories together....

LOVED this book. I was so touched and humbled by the way Randy tells the stories of the bible. He reminds us that we are part of God's story! I loved the ending...how he painted us right into God's plan. Wonderful.

I love books that drag you in right away. This one did that for me. It is very interesting and addicting. I wanted to listen all the time.

I liked the writing, the plot, and the narrators. The story is fantastic and will engage you right up to the end. As soon as I finished this book, I went on to the second in the series. I'm excited to read the whole series!

In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

    Story

I had listened to Pillars of the Earth before this book and really enjoyed it so I went on to this one. I loved the narrator, he is fantastic! And, although the story is well written, it was missing the one big thing that spoke to me so much in Pillars: faith. One of the Pillars' main characters (Pryor Philip) was so incredibly faithful in God. He was truly a man living his life for the Lord, and I thought it was beautiful. I wanted more of that here, but was a little disapointed.

I like the characters, the intertwining stories, and the overall feeling. The narrator is what kept me listening, I think more than anything. He is so great, I could have listened to him read pretty much anything. I was disappointed in the way that this book had so many similar stories as Pillars. Not the same plot, so much, but very similar characters and circumstances. It wasn't exactly predictable, but very familiar.

I've read many series, and I love a great one. I love it when the story continues, and a lot of time they get better and better. I think, and I feel bad saying this, I think that I would have stopped at Pillars.

It is worth the listen, just not my favorite book.

I actually had to give myself some time to grieve when I was done with this series. Normally, I start a new book the same day I finish one, but occassionally I have to let myself say goodbye to characters. I had to do that after finishing this book. I had listened to all five books, and had fallen in love with the beautiful, strong, and humble characters. I fell in love with the land, the traditions, and the passionate patriotism the people held for their countries. It was hard to say goodbye, I didn't want it to end.

The story is written so incredibly well. It takes you back hundreds of years and makes you appreciate another time and the struggles they went through, the hardships they had to endure. As I read, I could imagine the country and the people, even though I don't know a lot about historical Asian culture; Hearn painted the picture in my mind.

Another part of this book that I loved was the faith that the characters held. They may have held different beliefs, but they held them very strongly. I am a Christian with much faith. And even though some of the people in this book believed differently than me (in The Enlightened One), it helped to increase my faith just by seeing the absolute, unmoving stand they took towards their belief. It was beautiful.

Then there was The Hidden. They touched my heart so much. What a struggle they endured! And all for God! It was incredible. God told us we would be persecuted for our faith in Him, and these people were a great example for me and how I would hope to stand firm in my faith during persecution.

All in all, one of the greatest series I've read. I could not have asked for more. I chose "Across the Nightingale Floor" on a whim, and I'm so glad I did! This series truly blessed me. I encourage anyone and everyone to read these books!

16 years of peace and prosperity have passed since Lord Otori Takeo united the Three Countries. Takeo and his beloved consort, Kaede, have three daughters and a happy family life. Their success has attracted the attention of the distant Emperor and his general, the warlord Saga Hideki, who covet the wealth of the Countries. Meanwhile, the violent acts and betrayals of the past will not lie buried, and other secrets will not stay hidden. Everything that Takeo and Kaede have achieved is threatened.

I gave the performance 3 stars because I was highly disapointed that the narrators had changed from the first 3 books. I loved the original narrators, but I grew to appreciate the new ones as well. Although disapointment was my first thought, I was soon just as engrossed with this part of the story as I had been with the others. The plot is magnificent, and the characters continued to impress me, if not because of their honor and truth, because of their wicked and hateful ways. All characters in the series are dynamic and fantastic. I enjoyed this entire series very much. I'm looking forward to the prequel now! Although I'm not finished with the series, I can confidently recommend it. Superb.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

This was a great story, but the music that occassionally played behind the narrators' voices was horrible! To me, it didn't go with the story at all and was more of a distraction. Overall, though, I can get over the music, because the book was pretty great.

I do believe that some have the capacity to heal themselves, even though I have yet to be healed, that's up to God. But, I do like this anyway because it brings me to a place in my mind that I would otherwise not go.
