I started this series at the recommendation of Steve Gibson and would recommend these books without hesitation
I would recommend starting at the first book and buying them all.
Christian Rummel is a professional who is worthy of my respect. This is the class of narrator that brings the story to life. I don't hear the narrator, I just hear the story.
Once again, a great story where there's always something happening and moves along, keeping your engaged.
This is a good example of someone reading a book, rather than performing it like many of the great audible narrators.
I was a little concerned that the 80's references might be a little gimmicky, but they were just icing on a very delicious cake.
The characters were great and the story kept me listening when I should have been doing other things.
If this was read by a one of the regular audible professionals, this would have gotten a straight 4 stars from me. The story is interesting and I like the story telling style of the author but the narrator really dropped the ball.
Different narrator would have been a good thing
It kept my interest for most of the book, but after a while, the self-congratulatory nature of the book started to get on my nerves
If you have the urge, I would recommend this, but just be warned that after a while it gets tiring.
When reading through the other reviews, I agreed with most of them, good and bad. Many times this book is completely unbelievable and it certainly plays out like a B-Movie, but many of the reasons why people say this book is bad are why I enjoyed it. I don't always want hard science fiction where all the facets are completely believable. This is a book where you can relax and just enjoy the story for the fun of it.
