"Underwhelming"
I thought the blurb for this story didn't match it.
Many moments of this story 'jumped the shark...' Surviving a plane crash on a snowy mountain after their safe-house blew up? I couldn't suspend my disbelief.
It was fine.
Probably.
"Like watching a car crash"
I loved Crystal and I felt so upset for her and that the other characters let her down.
Not in the same genre. Cannot compare really. Lots of characters to follow as for other JK tales.
Been female!
Crystal's undoing! My heart broke!
I felt JK had a pretty harsh view of the middle class members of the fictional town. I know she has had lean times in her past but I felt this was an unduly harsh critique of middle class England. Easy to be so critical when you are so wealthy!
"Classic clever Sherlock, read beautifully!"
I loved the detailed unravelling of clues.
Sherlock, of course!
Nope! But I love his voice!
Nope.
"Not as good as the first two"
I enjoy Nora Roberts but this is not her best. I didn't connect to Hope as much as the two other female characters in books 1 & 2.
When Rylie drives down to the city and sorts out the ex'es family.
Not really!
"Great series as addictive as all her others!"
Yup! You can listen to it driving to work, grocery shopping etc. you don't have to 'put it down' for a second.
I love Topher!
Great! Well read!
Abso-freakin-lutely!
Please make into a film!!!!!!
"Light and amusing"
Yes, a good listen on holiday. I didn't mind pausing it to do other things.
I liked the characters in the rough end of town, the trailer town wedding was funny.
Yes.
Yes.
"A well woven tale"
It was long winded with endless descriptions. I wish I'd listened to it on 2x speed. Kate writes great mysteries that are always very intricate and interestingly resolved.
Not as good as the Forbidden Garden.
Hmmmm. I think probably the last 4 chapters.
I really felt for the three sisters Blythe, especially the stalwart Percy when we discover the secret of her true love lost.
Kate's books are so detailed you can almost smell the dusty sitting rooms and summer gardens.
"Great police thriller!"
Definitely! I absolutely loved the characters, especially the main character Scott, the tenacious, injured police man. I adored Maggie the dog. Brilliantly emotional!
Yes, I couldn't stop listening for fear something might happen to Scott and/or Maggie.
Love this guy's voice. He does great characters! I love the way he speaks females and animals, no silly high pitched shenanigans!
Yes, whole family had to listen along as I moved the iPad around the house with me.
Buy it! If you love a police mystery nod love a well developed character, you won't regret it.
